How And Why Did You Choose Your Neighborhood?
WestGrayGuy replied to VicMan's topic in Houston Real Estate
I chose midtown in 98 and haven't looked back since. Why? This is where the rebirth of inner city Houston has taken place. I love wtahcing it grow each year. -
Bummer,I had high hopes.

I was referring to the history of "fires" that occurred in Montrose and neartown that seem to happen at the right time for development. There are plenty of examples.

The North end is expected to get a big shot in the arm with the Hardy Rail Yard Development.
-
It will become part of the Urban Loft (tin can house) take over of Freedman's Town. Mark my words! Funny how "fires" started by the homeless seem to happen to buildings that are in the way.

Say Nice Things About D-fw!
WestGrayGuy replied to The Great Hizzy!'s topic in Dallas/Fort Worth/Metroplex
I think the soul less Dallas burbs take away from the city. Especially Plano, Frisco and the far North ones. That's what I don't like about Dallas; more suburban than urban. -
No we were the grand marshal because of the fund raising we do. Check out our website, I am the webmaster. Bayou City Boys Club The guys that are in shape were gladiators, the others wore togas.
-
Yes, they were quite short

Tony Deanda? I am the first row fourth from the right in the orange cape. I had an awesome time this year in the parade.

This is a picture of our group prior to the start of the parade. We were the grand marshals.

I did. However, Smithers has always been the gay one on the Simpson's. This episode was not ground breaking. -
Say Nice Things About D-fw!

1. Dallas has hot gay boys 2. Great development in Uptown and downtown areas 3. Much better start on its rail system and oh yeah... 4. Its 250 miles from Houston -
I don't know if was intended but I think it did some good. Rich's hs always been the traditional post parade place until last year when it was at Club Go. The pride committee chose to have it at Rich's following tradition. The problem with Rich's is that it is not cool right now. The cool place is South Beach even though I would consider it an inferior dance space. Rich's will return in time. The place has been renovated and now has a sound system that is the best in Texas in terms of power. It was imported from Europe. There are only two in the country, one in Houston and one in New York. I am very vocal in my support of Rich's and make it a point to go there as much as possible to support it.

Midtown Restaurant And Bar Scene - More Coming
WestGrayGuy replied to WestGrayGuy's topic in Midtown
Parking in midtown is quickly disappearing with all the new clubs popping up. We crave the urban environment and this diner will have it. Accordingly it will not have a massive parking lot. You are going to have to park on the street and walk a few blocks. I will support it as I think it is a cool concept. This part of midtown is developing fairly rapidly with Post and the Edge coming up. There will be plenty of walk up customers.- 1,135 replies

Well I was in the parade on the Grand Marshal float, the Roman one with statues and gladiator guys. Let me tell you the crowd was enormous especially near the corner of Westheimer and Montrose. I had the best time. I have heard at least 200k were there. If you think about it, that is the population of Beaumont at the corner of Montrose and Westheimer. I have watched my share of parades and let me tell you it is WAY more fun to be in them. Of course the clubs were packed after the parade. Rich's felt like the good ole days.

Yes Stafford is home to the only MSD (municipal school district) in Texas from what I understand. All others are ISD (independent school districts). I lived in Stafford for six months when I first moved here in 97. It was all about families and driving on the freeway to get somewhere.

The Galleria Mall At 5085 Westheimer Rd.
WestGrayGuy replied to TreaderCRC's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
Neiman Marcus Northpark in Dallas is the largest in sales. Of course it is based in Dallas. -
This topic reminds of the craziness of Dallas roads. Not only do the numbering systems make no sense. The roads go in all sorts of directions. Downtown Dallas is freaky.

GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.
WestGrayGuy replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Downtown
Repeat after me: "The virgin megastore does not a city make", "The virgin megastore does not a city make", "The virgin megastore does not a city make". The store is a 90's phenomenon. Houston doesn't need one. -
Movie Theaters In Houston And The Surrounding Area
WestGrayGuy replied to VicMan's topic in General Houston Discussions
The Cineplex Odeon on West Gray has been gutted and is now home to a Mervyn's superstore and the hip new gym called "Fit". This is the place to work out inside the loop currently. The movie theater suffered a slow death after Edward's Grand Palace opened. -

WestGrayGuy replied to VicMan's topic in Katy and Points West
Although I don't think HISD is the model of efficient spending, it is not fair to compare the two districts. HISD is massive. Katy has what 6-8 high schools? Plus Katy is growing at a must faster rate than HISD, those new schools are completely necessary. Katy can get away spending much more per student than HISD can. All and all though, I would want my kids to go to KISD. -

WestGrayGuy replied to Sunstar's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
If anything, I was referring to P Diddy's "colorful" past with an incident that occurred with his entourage in a Miami nightclub with J LO. His race had nothing to do with it. I do think some of us have become overly sensitive. As a member of a minority myself, I can understand you thoughts. Especially in this week of Pride, I am not one to stereotype or be offensive. I apologize if I offended you. -
