  1. According to the environmental permit at the site, it's a Marriott to be completed by September of next year.
  2. About a year later, it looks like the restaurant has become part of the Brazos Town Center plan. Specifically at the northeast corner of the second phase around the intersection of 59 & FM 762. They're already starting to clear out the land around there, and will be building on it in the upcoming months as a couple of fast food places and a bank are also planned near that corner. It is visible on page 6 of the most recent property flyer for the project, updated on 10/12/08 to include the Spec's under construction and the new tenants recently added to the second phase. Promotional material sent by Del Webb for their Richmond community states it should be open by 2010.
  3. Neither, since it's not along the bayou. It's on the south side of Braeswood and on the east side of Cecil, set back a block from the bayou.
  4. MD Anderson Mid Campus Developments. I didn't see any other threads referring to this project nor could I find anything about it elsewhere... At any rate, I saw this sign earlier in the afternoon. I wasn't sure of the intersection (I think it's Braeswood @ Cecil, and there's a traffic light there) but it is just east of Fannin in the "new" south side of the TMC. Here's a photo of the sign w/ rendering. Pardon the quality, but it's fun to try shooting at a red light and at an odd angle nearly into the sun. Guessing 24-26 floors? http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/houtosme/HouConstruction/DSC01978-1.jpg
  5. Saw some activity happening there this afternoon. Unsure if it's new or has been ongoing for a bit.
  6. What, that Pitney Bowes is suddenly chopped liver? Only had time to stop into the Books-a-Million, but I was pleasantly surprised at the selection and layout. The rest of the time was spent just wandering about. I walked across the length of the place, basically trying to get a feel from the "sky rings" or whatever they're being branded as. It'd probably be a bit better if it wasn't cool and damp, but it's still a trip to be able to look up the canyon of the streets and buildings. Also, I think the location comes into play when you walk to the end around the HOB box office on the 3rd level. There's a pretty good line of sight to Toyota Center, Hilton Americas & the GRB, so I can definitely see people walking a few blocks to check the place out when it's fully up and running.
  7. Yay, LTAWACS Jr! I'm not surprised at the outcome thus far. It always seemed to like the original plan would deliver a bit too much, too quickly. A phased plan makes a bit more sense in the long run, so hopefully it will follow that course.
  8. It's Manhattan from around Chinatown. A couple more architectural clues that prove it's NYC include the Manhattan Municipal Building & Thurgood Marshall Federal Courthouse, both to the left of Woolworth at the center of the photo.
  9. He lives, talking about people that no longer do.
  10. I'm still somewhat ambivalent at this point. I mean, yes, the grand opening for the project is next Thursday (10/16)... but businesses will supposedly be opening into January. That said, I still plan to walk through that day or in the days following the first events. I'd wait till February or a bit later to take an objective look at the place, but that's just me.
  11. Saw this morning that the surface lot for the new Y has already been fenced off.
  12. It's once again a parking lot. It was immediately after the hurricane, and over the past few days there's been someone sitting next to a sign with the parking rates. Lot seemed relatively sparse though.
  13. I saw the second crane is now up. Must've installed it over the past few days.

  15. Just before I left the ugly garage this afternoon, I managed to get these shots. Laying rebar around the perimiter of the garage Garage area Overview of the building site from the west Detail of the pit area Crane rising above the site Crane from Discovery Green
  16. Nil. They were already back to work at the DT site at the time you were posting the message. Was actually at the fence around 10:30-11 ish that morning watching them ramp things back up. The water had been pumped out and the site was relatively dry.
  17. That framework for the rooftop has been installed rather quickly. Take a look at the progress in just about two days time... Tuesday 9/2 Today 9/4
  18. The website has been updated with a "Virtual Tour" video and a number of new renderings. Among a few of the unseen... These feature the Embassy Suites, second Convention Center Hotel and some of the proposed residential & hotel developments mentioned in the past
  19. Now that's pretty fast for the rooftop! That framework wasn't there when I was DT yesterday around midday. Only remember seeing that elevator shaft in the middle.
  20. Apparently, they topped out a day or two ago. Tree's on top of the 14th floor.
