GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.

LOL, I was scrolling down and that picture took me by surprise and I chocked on my coffee. -
Huh, that's an interesting idea. At first, I was thinking a huge movie theater---the worlds biggest Imax or drive-in---but a sound stage is at least a use.

Regent Square: Mixed-Use On Allen Parkway At Dunlavy St.

That was funny. A question about something completely off topic: why is the"Hotel"member rank use that old Days Inn as the representative icon? That must be a joke. No need for an actual reply, or a scolding for being off topic. I just want to point that out.- 1,531 replies

002 Magazine has info about a lot of new developments
bkjones98 replied to citykid09's topic in General Houston Discussions
Cool. I hadn't seen the pictures for The Mix, and the pictures for West Ave. are new to me. Thanks for sharing. I guess I should start looking at 002 again. I stopped reading it at Chipotle when it lost all substance and became 30 pages of adverting. -
It was a shame they didn't play in Toyota. I went to both games, and the venue is less than ideal for basketball. Friday's game was reasonably loud, but the crowd was completely inaudible when I watch the game on Tivo. The ground-level seats where way too far away, and there was almost no slope in the seats, so when one person stood up, everyone had to stand. I'm alumni; I don

I think the PR person was just being diplomatic and/or trying to avoid any immediate confrontation. Now, I can certainly sympathize with having windows busted out, but I

Regent Square: Mixed-Use On Allen Parkway At Dunlavy St.

Wow. This project is going to completely change that part of town. It will be great for those of us near downtown to have a collection of shops so close together (that are not in Highland Mall and the Galleria).- 1,531 replies

Wow, nice link. That will come in very handy for the NYT, etc. Thanks!

Could someone copy and paste the whole article? If copyright is of issue, a contracted summary would be much appreciated.

I don't think everyone is on the same page as to what "third world" acutally means. Basically everything that was not the US, Europe, or the USSR was third world. Here is a wikipedia's worth of explanation: The term Third World is now deprecated, and has been replaced with the more politically correct "developing country". It is a term used, along with First World and Second World, (now more commonly called "developed countries"), to broadly categorize the nations of the Earth to three social, political, and economic divisions. It is also known in some academic contexts as the Global South. Etymology First (blue), Second (red), and the Third World (green) countries during the cold war era. The economist and demographer Alfred Sauvy, in an article published in the French magazine L'Observateur, August 14, 1952, coined the term Third World in referring to countries currently called either "developing" or "under-developed", especially in Latin America, Africa, Oceania, and Asia, that were unaligned with either the Communist Soviet bloc or the Capitalist NATO bloc during the Cold War (1945

Lakewood Church and The Diamond Club are within a few blocks.

I think skating there is an assumption of the risk--like a public swimming pool. On the other hand, if there are problems like a crack in the pavement that cause someone to fall, that would be premise defect. I would imagine liability in that scenario. Park at the Sabine Street Bridge between Memorial Dive and Allen Pkwy. Its by the Sabine Street Lofts and Fonde Rec. Center.

I think closing this would be a positive for the flag ship. WFMI has always tried to keep the exclusivity to their brand through keeping the number of stores limited.

Went by this weekend (the 9th), and there were people skating on it. They may have been with the construction company or something, because the fences are still up and it does not look like the finishing touches completed.

Moving. I admire and appreciate your vision and work. It is sad to see such a relatively old building go. A scene from a movie, however, came to mind. 10 cool points for the first to know who it is (without goolging it). "Look, believe it or not, i'm providing a service. I'm thinning the corporate herd. You've seen "Daktari"? The weaker animals always go. So the kids cry when you tie an old tiger to a tree and shoot him. But that's life! America's in a state of renewal. We've gotta have the strength to tie a few factories to a tree and bash 'em with a shovel."

It will never happen. At least, not as long as UT and A&M alumni control both Houses.
