Agreed. I've given up trying to have a rational conversation with anyone who still thinks Obama was born in Kenya and is secretly a communist Muslim trying to destroy America.
You mean Rush lied to us?

The CDC has declared that there is no Zombie Apocalypse imminent.
Tell that to the guy that had his face eaten off last week in Miami.

Someone mentioned Studio Theater being underwhelming. Totally different things. Alamo is way way better than Studio.
I agree. Better beer choices, better food, better overall atmosphere.
-
I read a while back that the West Oaks Alamo was going to shut down. Wish they would open one in Sugar Land.
Their burgers are okay but like asubrt said, the beer is what draws people. Bring your growler.
Plus because they serve liquor you don't get the loud obnoxious teenagers that are at all the other theaters.

I think that's the building Piola's Pizza is in.
BAHHH hah I was literally just about to post this! This is what I found on Crosspoint's website as far as a rendering, but I am not sure if it is for the same spot. It just says Louisiana and Elgin, too lazy to see what that address is.

The Mexicans are snatching them up.

The Woodlands, a master-planned community north of Houston, seems to get the lion's share of Mexican buyers, agents say. -
As soon as my contact expires I'm upgrading.

I saw that article. What's dumb is how they include California's In-N-Out burger. Although it might rank high in comparison to some fast food burgers, it's absolutely no comparison to a good restaurant's burger. (Actually had one in Fort Worth a couple of months ago and I fail to see the fascination).
That being said I did eat a burger at the Healdsburg Bar & Grill (#22) last month and it really was good. Also ate a Super Duper Burger while in SF. Don't know for sure if it's a chain but probably one of the best fast food burgers I've ever had.

there's also a 'kosher' cell phone, without the ability to send/receive texts, or take pictures.
I have one of those.

I like them. Their menu is huge and food has always been good. I frequent the one on Montrose. At the one on Richmond your pretty much forced to valet park so I rarely go there. Food is not any pricier then say Papasitos or Lupe's. Their margaritas are outstanding. Also love the refried bean dip.

No problem
As in people that respond "no problem" when you thank them. Of course I have been guilty of it myself despite trying to refrain from uttering those words.

Thanks for the reply. I knew someone would know. I had never heard of such a thing.

While thumbing through my refrigerator manual yesterday I ran across the following:
The Holiday Mode is designed for the traveler who wishes to save additional energy or for those whose religious observances require turning off the lights and ice maker.I guess I'm naive but what religion could this possible refer to and why would the use of an ice maker and refrigerator lights not be allowed?

Hopefully the course is making enough money to pay for it's own upkeep. I haven't played there in about 4 or 5 years. I liked the old layout better. When the clubhouse and number 1 tee was up by the zoo. They used to share the same parking lot. They redesigned it I believe in the 80's. I like old courses like Herman and Sharpstown because they are good walking courses. Newer courses are not designed for walking. Of course I only play about 5 or 6 times a year. I don't even keep score. I just enjoy relaxing and being outdoors. That's the way golf should be played. Some people take it way to serious.
-
You don't really get an appreciation for the Fry Rd. Garden Ridge, until you've walked the ENTIRE THING, office space included, for a fire alarm at 3 A.M.... In full turnout gear... Holy hell...
Ha. I don't miss those days at all.

I believe the 90 year old Herman Park course is Houston's oldest golf course and I think an inner-city golf course is good for the community.

I don't want this to sound like stereotyping, but it is common (and I heard that it happened in this case, too) for Black potential jurors to give up too much information during jury selection. You mentioned one obvious way that this occurs, when potential jurors claim to have formed an opinion on the case. Common sense tells you that you cannot make up your mind until you hear the evidence, but some people just can't help themselves, and say it anyway. As soon as that occurs, the Blacks are kicked off the jury. Of course, whites are kicked off for doing it, too, but it is more obvious when Blacks do so. Another big reason for few Blacks on the jury is that they show up for jury duty in smaller percentages. When the Black community as a whole realizes that the best way to combat injustice at the courthouse is to show up for jury duty, things will change. But, when you abdicate your duty, you have no one to blame but yourself.
I think you hit the nail on the head.
I hope people don't take this the wrong way but blacks do seem to take a position in favor of someone from their own race more so than other races. I can't say I blame them, but sometimes the evidence is overwhelming (OJ and Michael Vick come to mind, so do several others) and they will still take the side of the black person. This cannot help them when being picked for a jury. Yes there should have been blacks on the jury but I'm not sure it's the district attorneys office's fault there was none.

Man, I hated scraping & painting those shingles on the side of those houses. Bad flashbacks.
I can relate. I painted quite a few of those old Bellaire homes. Of course you know the paint we were scraping was lead based and the shingles were asbestos. Something to look forward to in later life.

They might rent part of the Kroger space but Aldi's are very small. Even smaller then the old HEB Pantrys. Their parent company Trader Vics builds the larger stores.

Those were the good old days of radio. RB is a neighbor of mine. We were having a discussion not long ago about how different radio is today. Biggest difference is there are no local owners. Every station is owned by a conglomerate based in NYC.
-
Aldi might provide jobs at their stores but they don't carry any local products. Everything is brought in from Chicago. To me they are the "Dollar Stores" of groceries.

I'm not going to hold my breath. There has been talk about a high speed train for at least 30 years.

Also remember seeing Joan Jett there in the 80's. Lost the ticket though.

Well, if they shot him in the head he's done. Otherwise I would be keeping an eye on him while in the morgue.
