LOL. I didn't realize this was a 2 and 1/2 year old thread. No wonder the link doesn't work.

I'd be happy if I could just avoid taking my shoes off. How ridiculous.

Won't work for me even though I downloaded the latest version of Silverlight.

Love El Xuxo Xicana.
Damn. It's going bye bye also. At least it won't be the same.

Hard to believe people in mid town will flock to a mediocre mexican restaurant like Cyclone Anaya's but not patronize XX. Might as well live in the suburbs where chain restaurants rule.

Wow. The website does say they are moving. Hope they stay in the general area if that's the case.

I believe they are enlarging the place, which would be good because the old place had very limited seating.

I have never used them personally but my daughter who lives close by has had good experience with the Auto Doc on Montrose. Prices are fair and she claims they are reliable.

Great pic. Gotta love those tailfins.

Says a lot about our citizens government knowledge if the average is only 49%. I scored 75.76% and I consider myself an idiot when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Texas as a whole is a long way from recovering from the drought. Lake Travis is still really low and so are many other lakes.

I lurked for a year or two in the Historic Houston thread before finally joining. This site does come up a lot when googling old Houston places and events. I suspect that's what attracts many.

They definitely need to do something to win back the fans. This is a start.

Finally stopped in at Aldi's while in Fort Worth over the weekend. I wasn't impressed. Certainly no variety. Just one brand of everything and I didn't recognize a single brand they carried. Having never seen a Trader Joe's I can't comment if they are the same but I suspect they carry the same brand merchandise. They did have cheap snack foods.

Sweet video. I liked the song also.

Cactus brings back many memories of waiting in line for a day or two for concert tickets.... when they were sold the old fasioned way.... you waited in line and bought them.... no rigged system.... no instant scalping or holding back....... for like $8-10 a show.

That was the good old days. I remember spending many nights to be in line early for tickets at Cactus or the venue halls. No "special" fees back them either. I just recently purchased a pair of tickets for the Hendrix Experience show and was charged for a ticket convenience fee ($14), facility fee ($5) and a delivery fee ($3.50). I paid less then that when I saw Hendrix himself.

Can they beat the Ravens? Who knows? Right now I'm just relishing a great playoff victory. It's been a long wait.

"Houston gets a superhero - a clone of Spider-Man"
http://www.chron.com/default/article/Houston-gets-a-superhero-a-clone-of-Spider-Man-2441803.php
Our own comic based in Houston. This is much more exciting then a movie or TV show being filmed on location here. Still I wonder if he will have some sort of alternative transportation? It's going to be pretty hard to catch all those burglars in the Heights just swinging from a web. Still, it will be cool if the creators have him in Minute Maid Park or Reliant Stadium. And wouldn't the abandoned Astrodome would be the perfect location for the "Roxxon Energy Corporation".

For those that cannot make it down there, here's a link for a live stream of the implosion.

As a kid, I recall seeing concrete sentry boxes or pill boxes along the seawall on the east end of the island. That would have been around 1957 to 1959.
The San Luis Hotel was built right on top of one.
-
Yeah. The Astros refused to have anything to do with the Sugar Land Skeeters. They would surely fight a team located right down the street.
