Is it possible to tell if the abandoned tunnel section from this block under Capital Street will be reopened and reconnected to the building?
-
This is a cool picture. On the portion with the facade removed you can see where a section of the building frame sits lower than the facade skeleton. That would have been the roofline of the original Majestic Theater that was eventually incorporated into the Chronicle Building. To the left of that was the Milam Building which was extended over the top of the theater.

I thought it was Grandy's. Wanted to research to confirm but ran out of time. -

Hard to believe, but this topic has been open since January 2007 - almost ten years. Has to be some sort of house record.- 1,531 replies

I'm guessing she is referring to Confetti's, which in other incarnations was also Foxhunter, Cowboy and R&R. It was on West Alabama behind the Galleria.

With the Lamar Hotel block they let it sit as surface parking for about 15 years.

"Historic riverfront" is odd phrasing, but it leads me to think they are looking at taking advantage of the bayou location. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it..

That's funny. The Daewoo names cracked me up for some reason. Lanos, Leganza and Nubira. "Nubira" was odd enough that it was fun to say.

Something to think about - what are the most irritating car names? http://www.autoblog.com/2016/03/09/question-of-the-day-most-irritating-car-name/ They lead off with the Achieva, I always hated the Acura Vigor.

I'm happy if it is still under construction. That way visitors can see that Houston hasn't totally shriveled up and died.

Good heavens. This from the company that used to be known for their staid, boring design.

Rowdy, that is the HAIF forum troll. He just posts crap to draw a reaction, so it is best to just ignore him.

I'm not crazy about the red glass, but I love the narrow slab proportions. Not many thin buildings like this get built nowadays - presumably they are not particularly economic - but still the proportions are classic.

Removed some trollery. Remember, when you see obvious trolls, don't take the bait. Just flag them as trolls.

The Binz building isn't a remodel. It was built new in the early 1980s. The original structure was demolished.

There have been a large number of complaints about the off topic / trolling posts in this topic, so a number have been moved to a new topic. As a reminder, the best response to trolling is to ignore. Trolls thrive on the attention.

Six levels of retail? There's absolutely no way that makes sense in this location. Where do they see the demand for that much retail inside the Astrodome? These guys are smoking their own dope, as the expression goes.

Corporate Plaza Buildings On Kirby Dr.

That's funny - I never noticed the fountain with the little statues. They definitely are not a stylistic fit with the complex. I wonder where they came from.- 113 replies
