  1. Hey! I lived in the Bayridge apartments from 89-91. That whole layout of the area worked pretty well then until they built the highway. Isn't 96 the old FM 1266? I saw it a couple of years ago for the first time and it looked wierd. The old road used to curve to the right about where you enter that neighborhood.
  2. Is this contest still going?
  3. You can find that one along with others at http://www.radioemporium.com. Lots of old radio logos and bumper stickers
  4. I also grew up in this area from 1976-1986. Recently I ended up back here in 2004 and now live off of Park Place and Reveille. I remember going to King Drive in. I remember sitting in line along the 610 feeder road to get in and being able to see the movie playing as we waited to pay to get in. I saw "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" there with my parents in the west lot. Also saw "Survive" in 1976 (remade as Alive in 1993) there in the east lot. That one traumatized me, a 6 year old boy shouldn't see someones intestines hanging out. The Burger King came along a couple of years before the theater closed. That BK closed around 2004.
  5. Suprised no mention of this at all. from Real Estate Center Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown Market News http://recenter.tamu.edu/mnews/mnsearch.asp?AID=10 $40M sale of Almeda Mall; $80M in renovations planned - 8/1/2007 (Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown: Retail) [Copyrighted content removed by Editor.]
  6. It was Electric Avenue. It stuck in my mind because it was odd to hear since there was a song called Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant in the early 80s. Montgomery Wards adopted the name to its electronics department not too long after the song came out.
  7. No Robert Half/Office Team is in 3 Houston Center and on a much higher floor. I know my ex-wife worked in the office there for about 3 years until recently.
  8. Oh yeah a very pretty lady and she was really nice. I was working one of the booths and we had an issue so I was told to find guest relations inside of city hall. Well I walk in and am directed to a different place by each person I talk to. I reach the last room and I see a couple standing in the door way talking to someone. Didn't really pay attention. I attempt to walk past and I see her there. I looked at the guy standing next to her and I kind of motion to her and mouth "Is that..?" He looks at me and nods. She looks over at me and I go "Your Miya Shay" I extend my hand to shake hers and introduce myself. She goes "yeah its me" and makes a comment to the effect that she doesn't quite look her best (I thought she looked great, she had on this aqua colored top and shorts that showed off her legs... wow). We begin talking about my little dilema and tries to help me, we chit-chat for awhile, it was great, she was so cool. I wanted to stay and talk to her more but I had to get back to the booth. That topped off my day . She reminds me of Leah Remini
  9. I've gotta add Miya Shay. I met her at ifest. Yes she is a hot one.
  10. Yea it remained opened as an adult theater throughout the 90s. I think it closed down for awhile after they took the Stars sign down.
  11. No actually the screen was still there during the porn days. Back in 2000 I got curious one night to see what the theater was like. I hadn't been there since I was 10 when they were showing spanish movies there. Dark and dingy, holes in the walls, the projection room wasn't the projection room... I dont know what was going on there but all the windows were covered, the entire wall painted black and people kept going in and out of there. I didn't try to go in. The video was coming from a projector that was hung out over the theater. It was sad.
  12. I just passed by there and wondered if anyone knew. Sad. I hoped the wrecking ball would skip this theater. There are so many others that still stand, shuttered. Why not this one?
  13. I smell a big lawsuit coming. I hope not. I swear people sue for anything these days and I'm really becoming disgusted by how quick we are to sue. It was a bad product, it was an accident. I feel for those that lost their beloved pets but my God, stuff happens. I'm waiting for the lawyer TV commercials to start. "Did you loose a dog or cat because of bad pet food? Then call me [insert lawyers name here]!". It turns my stomach just to think about it.
  14. OOH Krystal! Thats my only reason to go out to 1960 these days. It used to because of Shelter nightclub at 3403 FM 1960 W. During my serious clubbing days.
  15. Thanks for the info and the pictures. Man I don't have the cajones to actually get out and see them upclose like that. Thanks again. I discovered even more south of Jacinto port between the beltway and Sheldon. These are more hidden behind the trees and tall grass. You have to zoom in on the live maps just to see them.
  16. I was really really young to remember when it was around. I only know of it because there is a picture of me on a swing there when I was about 2 years old. I found an article in a google search that it was only around for a year (71-72). Where was it located and why was it only around a year?
  17. Aw man those are awesome photos. I cant believe you went out there AND got pictures. So what are/were they used to store? I wonder if anything is still inside them.
  18. 6400 was 1988-1989 Ocean Club was 1985-1990. NRG was on N. Shepherd in the Kroger shopping center. My 80s club experience First club was Visions on Fondren only went once in 1986. Numbers a few times starting in 86 also. I saw the Kraftwerk Music Non Stop video... freaked me out, it was the wierdest thing I ever saw. Saw Book of Love that night. NRG also in 86 once. Very vague memory Club 6400 late 88. I was there a couple of days before it burned down. Netwerk, galleria location in 1989. Im sure there are more just not thinking of it right now Does ANYONE have pictures from 6400? Inside or out. I cant find anything online
  19. Already working on that. Those tapes are almost 20 years old and I discovered one last night thats no longer playable . So I'm taking measures to preserve them now. I've been converting them to mp3 (128k) to fit one broadcast on one disc.
  20. What was that? Sevfiv, if you look more to the east between Sheldon you'll see more of those buildings.
  21. Oh yeah me too. Never get tired of throwing down some 80s dance mixes on the turntables. I still have most of the tapes I recorded from the broadcasts.
  22. 93Q went country in 1991. 6400 was on from May 1988 to September 1989. 104 had The Saturday Night Power Mix Live from The Ocean Club. You sure your not thinking of when 93Q took over the Decadance broadcast when 96.5 became Mix? I cant believe they brought the Q-Zoo title back. Its been back for a couple of years but it still sounds wierd when I hear them say it. The morning barn is more fitting. I like that.
  23. I drive deliveries into Channelview every morning. I've noticed these buildings scattered along between the beltway and Sheldon rd that look like bomb shelters. I first noticed three on Appelt Rd just before Jacinto Port, two in plain view and one behind some brush. I recently noticed there were more. If you drive east on Jacinto Port going toward Sheldon to your left behind the brush, there are more in the distance (some covered by more brush) at the road there are even "driveways" leading to them (now fenced off). They look like they've been there for quite some time. Anyone have any info? Cant find anything online.
