  1. The project site is a good piece of land for a project like this. Maybe one day another developer will by the land and definitely change any Orion names and propose another project. We can all dream. Good thing what was already built (welcome center and entrance driveway) is fairly hiden from any major road. It won't really appear as a busted project to people passing by.
  2. I think some of the city council members from poor socio-economic areas of the city would be the ones that oppose TIRZ expansion. They clame the TIRZs are just boondogles for developer and rich people and don't benefit everyone. This can be the sticking points. Also, if you were a city council member from a district that doesn include downtown but includes uptown, would you be for it. This could hurt your district. I don't think it'll be a slam dunk, but I can see Mayor White putting his political force in support of the TIRZ expansion and talk about how good it will be for the overall city and squash other opposing council members.
  3. Good article. Let's hope the city agrees on letting the TIRZ expand. Those districts have long been a great catalyst for development.
  4. The foundation hasn't been poured. The most they've done is a little clearing and a some site prep. No actual foundation construction started.
  5. ^^^ hardly likely. The group (if embarrassed) has already screwed the project beyond any chance of it being built. It'll take an entirely new developer. I think the current developer would be quite embarrassed over his personal problems hurting the project currently.
  6. So they're planning to build the Opryland Hotel in a Dome. Or a glorified Holidome? Are they going to put meeting space in the Hotel? Or will conventions just use the Reliant Center? Also, the Final Four? Why would the Final Four be at Reliant. Wouldn't it be at Toyota?
  7. Jackson Square in the French Quarter only has four entrances and a large fence around it. It's quite beautiful. It's the picture you've seen with the man on horse in front of the Church.
  8. Nice render, Website have anthing new? It appear the the retail is not part of this project. But it was said this will be a phased project with the residential and hotel being the earliest portion.
  9. When was talking about new restraunts, i really wan't going after to have the mom-n-pop places. I was think chain restraunts we don't have. They're a lot of them. Also, there are restraunts that have like two are three location in the US at only a major city. Having some of these kind of places would be nice.
  10. I like it because is offer a good venue for small outdoor events. I like the architecture too. It's a good feature.
  11. To me, having the same restraunt in downtown and in burbs means why go downtown? I've been to the aquarium restraunt once. The presentation of the food and everything is nice, but it's just Landrys and their chain of restraunts packaged differently. The amusement park addition and views from the restraunt are great for bringing in families to downtown, but there are many other restraunts in downtown and nearby that I'd would rather visit. I like outback and many of the chain restraunts, and I do expect some of them to appear in downtown, but having new restraunts available makes the place more memorable.
  12. That's beautiful. Looks like Kingwood is getting theirs also and Sugarland is on their way too.
  13. My sister is a fashion designer in Louisiana and regularly shops there to when she comes in.
  14. Yeah, I don't want typical suburban shops and restraunts in the place. I'll like to see some stores and restraunts we don't have already.
  15. Does anyone pass by this area regularly? Just to at least inform us of what's happening. Pics would be nice when things start moving, but not necessary.
  16. Thanks for the link. The website already has it as under construction. They do have the highway number wrong though. It's 521 and not 251
  17. Yeah, I've been to the Home Fabrics and the regular Fabrics store when I was doing work in my house. The Home Fabrics store had some furniture. I guess they want to venture into a larger facility when a lot more choices.
  18. It was also an Internet Cafe. The truth of the matter is that the Galleria is hurt in no way from the existence of this place. Also, Dillards is not the Galleria. The reason I feel it doesn't affect the Galleria is because it is not in a convenient location. If you are on the streets of Uptown and not on the loop, you never notice this place. If the Galleria was getting bad press and patrons were not going there because of the Zone D'Erotica place, I think you might see some action. The fact that this place has changed hands so many times leads me to believe that the current tennant won't be there for long anyway.
  19. I thing one of the positive think about he houston concept is that the main street corridor is much more compact. To the north of the proposed Pavilons on Main Street is the proposed Sackowiz rennovation. Stowers is nearby also. I think our main street could become similar to the 16th street mall. We already have the light rail in place and the locations for the new development. Who ever found though better renderings better keep posting updates too.
  20. It was some delapidate or abandoned site. Although it is a strip center, its much better than what was there before.
