  1. You can be amazed at what you can fit in a small lot. We've talked about the concept of the Uptown filling in and eventually removing some of the larger strip centers for more density. This is just one plot, but it's a step in that direction. If the franchise owner for that James Coney Islands (or the company owner itself if it isn't franchised) see that they can still do business in the area, I think they'll find a place for another one. To me personally, hot dogs are so easy to cook that I feel guilty for buying one alread cooked. Unless its dollar hot dog day at an Astros game, then all bets are off.
  2. Yes, the first time I flew out of terminal E, I had to ask for help to get there. It was a trek to get over there. Does anyone know if this is the final configuration? I think the Houston Airport site has some renderings.
  3. or another dry cleaner? They have the same think at Shepherd and Washington too.
  4. sucks. The Houston Airport System isn't going to contribute? I wish they would. The only reason I was saying it was planned is because in a presentation by the Houston Airport Director at a recent ASCE meeting, he emphasized completing termalink to all terminals. They even had computer rendered video for the presentation. Also the final build out for Hobby makes pretty much a brand new airport.
  5. I agree on the termalink expansion. It think it may be proposed. Hobby is coming along nicely. They plan to finish out that airport to add several more gates than currently since Southwest is planning to add more flights.
  6. citykid, buildings get put on hold in every city all the time. We've just been profiling everything some much on here that it hits harder when one flops. Those pics are great. It will be a great addition to downtown.
  7. I doubt it. Ground floor retail is not considered typically in upper end high-rise residential buildings. It's a good chance this place will have a wall and gate like the Huntington on Kirby. I only see ground floor retail occuring in midrise projects. Also, not ever residential tower can have ground floor retail. I also think you'll see less ground floor retail in high-rise residential in the uptown area since so much retail is already available. If Wulfe builds their complex in the future, that will just add more retail than currently exist.
  8. Can we buldoze Tommy Vaugh too? It seems something much better can go there. What about that Mercedes Benz dealership along US 59 in Greeway Plaza?
  9. I think the TMC has a lot of architecture. I drive through on Fannin and see those really old looking buildings that gives some character. Personally, I think the sleak 90's design give the image of clean like a Hospital is supposed to be.
  10. ^^ I didn't say the welcom center did. I was pointing out that this complex having the trailer and everything on site doesn't mean anything will happen. I would love here the nubmers of % sold and if financing is in place for this project.
  11. You can also go to the products section where you can download teh map panels in PDF. No reason to download the 100 or so panels, just the ones that concern you. These aren't official and they may change by the time they area.
  12. Across from the Walgreens (north of Washington)? Looks like it may be some more retail.
  13. Look's more like it'll be just a verticle shopping mall. Like a current Park Shops on steroids. I'm all for it though.
  14. Good news Houston Retail. This groundbreaking is not like Orion's is it. I mean they built a whole welcome center and everything and they are now faultering. I hope you're right that they are moving forward.
  15. Yeah, Randall Davis has shown to follow through on his projects and is alway putting our press releases. The project he's pulled back he owned up to early instead of leading people on for months. I think this would be one of his taller ones in Houston. The only other tall one that I know he is working on is in South Padre.
  16. There is a large residential population within walking distance to this place also. Lots of apartments and townhomes. If you've notices, there have been lots of proposals floating around for new urban mixed use development in the area. If not all of them get built, at least the interest of the developers are there which means couple will follow through and finish.
  17. I just really wish midtown and the museum district will see little more height. Not tremendously tall, but more height to almost link the too. The museum district has a start with several tall residential towers.
  18. Cool concept. Even though you still spend the five dollars, it puts it towards the reason you are going to downtown and not parking. It may be a good incentive for people going to downtown.
  19. cool, some of those older buildings are needed to keep a good mix in downtown.
