I-45 Rebuild (North Houston Highway Improvement Project)
TacoDog replied to ToryGattis's topic in Traffic and Transportation
Maybe the Dynamo/Dash can buy the block closest to PNC Stadium like the Astros have done around MMP.- 3,351 replies

I-45 Rebuild (North Houston Highway Improvement Project)
TacoDog replied to ToryGattis's topic in Traffic and Transportation
I've seen three different people on twitter argue not only against this project, but to demolish all the highways in downtown. I don't understand their logic. The net benefit of this project is greater than keeping it the same or tearing down highways. That seems absurd to me.- 3,351 replies

I would have to go 2 more exits on 610 to go back around just to turn right instead of left. I could also take 610 in the other direction and loop all the way around Houston, going farther doesn't make sense. The difference between one way streets and this set up is you can go one block over to make a left turn, whereas here you would have to go several blocks to the one intersection its allowed. Then you will have everyone else doing the same, creating traffic that doesn't exist now.
-
Limiting left turns to a few streets doesn't make sense to me. The blocks are very short along the street and a lot of people live between 11th and 10th or 12th streets who wouldn't be able to turn left to go home from a certain direction.

The road diet will go along well with the Shepherd/Durham road diet.

Bayou Heights sounds like an oxymoron to me.

Where is this extension? -
Looks like they are going with Memorial Park, Shepherd/Durham, and Studemont.

Hike And Bike Bridge Over White Oak Bayou Is Burning
TacoDog replied to s3mh's topic in Traffic and Transportation
It was a long time coming, but they beat the summer 2022 finish date so that's exciting at least. -
What is the procedure for parking on this street? Some blocks have a no parking on this block sign posted, so blocks have a no parking between 7-9am and 4-6pm except Sundays sign, and other blocks have no signs at all. Is it legal to park on the blocks with no signs?

Shell Building, Restaurant - 1808 N. Shepherd Dr.
TacoDog replied to hindesky's topic in The Heights
Is this enough chicken places along this road that we we call Shepherd/Durham the Chicken Strip? -
So the project still stops at Shepherd instead of Durham?

I am a single occupancy vehicle wanting to make a right turn, how soon can I cut through two lanes of traffic to make a right turn before it is considered driving in those lanes? Or how can this be done safely? It seems dangerous to me, but it's Houston so par for the course I guess.

I-45 NB Ramp To Highway 59 NB To Close For Six Months
TacoDog replied to placoors's topic in Traffic and Transportation
I don't know if it's the local daily drivers doing this or the people like me who moved here <5 years ago and seldomly venture on certain major highways. A few dozen people can slow traffic down for hours.- 48 replies
