  1. unfortunately, this thread has gone from what could have been a polite compare and contrast of cities' architecture and aesthetic to unnecessary toilet references. thread closed.
  2. ..........still trying to clean "defecates" from my imagery. for starters, this is the "going up" area of the forum. "going up" meaning new projects (in houston usually). there are other threads to pronounce your architectural pride. in addition, "my city vs. your city" threads or conversations do not meet the guidelines for polite discussion on haif and will be removed moving thread to appropriate section...."meanwhile, in the rest of the world". why? because atlanta is "the rest of the world" on "houston architecture information forum".
  3. bad service, mediocre food (unless you're a fan of old school high sodium, msg laden, sugar enriched chinese), absent management; not my favorite place for asian anything. i've dined here off and on… Click here to view the full review at Yelp.com
  4. yes, inception was thought provoking and, at times, fun to look at, but not worth a second look as many suggested. cairo time: simple, beautiful, human story. comcast on demand mao's last dancer: set in houston. nationally significant. interesting to me, as we saw li cunxin perform with the houston ballet, and have been aware of his story most of my adult life. touching story, maybe not the best "film", but we enjoyed it. the film is based on cunxin's autobiography. cinemark market street, the woodlands. dorian gray: colin firth as lord henry wotton, ben barnes (prince caspian) as dorian gray and ben chaplin as basil hallward. it was many years ago that i read this book and i don't remember it being a morality tale, specifically; however, i did feel there was a "moral" to the movie version. british movie released in the US on dvd/on demand. no blockbusters in my recent viewing history, although i did enjoy each of the movies above for what they are.
  5. so sad....a complete waste. if you find out, post the info please!! thanks.
  6. ..........unfortunately, all those great amenities do not make the building more appealing.
  7. enjoyed the pictures. thanks for posting!
  8. click2houston.com com updated their report at 10:39PM saying: "HOUSTON -- A huge fire is burning in a Downtown Houston high-rise. The four-alarm fire is at the JP Morgan Chase Bank building on Main and Rusk Streets. The fire started at 8 p.m." it isn't over yet. http://www.click2houston.com/news/24820289/detail.html#video
  9. is that sarcasm? i'm not gettin' a "beaut" feeling about this at all. it's a far cry from the first rendering. better than a parking lot, yes; attractive addition to discovery green area, nope.
  10. as long as i avoid the specialty items and stick to the basics.......i LOVE this place!maybe it's the weight watchers routine wearing me down, but hallelujah! if that bowl of noodles with beef and… Click here to view the full review at Yelp.com
  11. if a realtor asks to perform "due diligence" researching a property, will they expect something in return?

    1. TheNiche

      TheNiche

Red flag. The Realtor's payment is contingent upon the transaction going through. That would be a conflict of interest, seeing as how the due diligence process tends to kill deals.

  12. Love my new droid x. Everything i needed. To setup done in half an hour. Haif looks great! Xcellent!
  13. i don't see how a petition will change an existing business agreement between two parties. if a little ktru-ness were honored in the new station, i'd be behind that completely!

  18. ditto! does anyone know if the montrose blvd conservancy is still kicking? the walkable montrose plan would certainly solidify this area as "walkable". i like this location for this building; however, i'd like it even more if the montrose blvd improvements were progressing. i do not see any activity on the conservancy website since '08.
  19. market street reports..."Openings scheduled by this fall include Schilleci’s New Orleans Kitchen where diners can enjoy the restaurant’s unique taste of New Orleans with great-tasting gumbo, hearty po-boys and other favorites. Another Market Street newcomer is The Cupcakery, a family-owned business with locations in Las Vegas and Dallas where more than one million cupcakes have been enjoyed." a flying saucer town center location rumor has resurfaced....could be a good sign. although disappointed that a red onion concept did not materialize in the sirenuse' space at 24 waterway, the (fingers crossed) soon to be announced location taker will surely make other suburbs green with envy. a martini bar concept is about to pop up somewhere in town center. an eye witness noticed some official looking "look-see" going on at the old chocolata location across from hubbell & hudson recently. do not know if the two are related, but the location would be great for a non-brew serving type establishment. on the roxx, maybe? shenandoah's portofino center may be getting a spring creek bbq location along with the bj's restaurant & brewhouse currently under construction. alden bridge residents will have a new healthy eatery featuring gluten free menu items, near rico's in the alden bridge shopping center. lest i forget, kita, the new japanese restaurant at 24 waterway is delicious (and beautiful)! the woodlands township recently approved a $25K study for a permanent performing arts location in town center. the waterway marriott is undergoing or about to undergo a multi-million dollar update. the senior living center on the waterway at grogan's mill is topped out....still anxious about the facade. i so hope they don't go "brick"! give me cement, steel, glass or stone please.
  20. this is awesome!! i can't believe i have to miss it. i so want to see the interior. take pictures if possible and post please!!!!
  21. walmart at this location will be a big success.....and if it doesn't look like every other walmart, great. (....and yes, i like to do the clicky ratings buttons without explanation. you can't make me talk! some people don't want to get into the mix but want to be a part of it on some level. no need to call them out, it's kinda unfriendly.)
  22. great...now droid 2 is announced....i'm tired of keeping up.
  23. added several historic houston items today. a cousin forwarded several scans of houston places and people recently: pictures include the alabama theater, marvin zindler, 7 eleven, humble oil gas station, blue grass inn/kentucky fried chicken, astroworld, shamrock......thought some of you would enjoy.
  24. houston magazine reports that 284 of 346 units in one park place are leased. is demand for this type of downtown residential such that similar developments could be in the works? are the remaining units considered a large number to absorb? i wonder if people are still signing on to live there?
  25. http://www.mercurybaroque.org/02/brandenburg.aspx mercury baroque performs bach's brandenburg concertos at miller outdoor theater. lawn seats as always are free.
