  1. This is a great development and I want 50 more scattered around the interior of the loop. Partially because I love seeing NIMBY's complain about it on Facebook, but way more because it's a great-looking development that adds the density our city needs.
  2. Another lakefront development! Townhomes will be built next to Marina Del Sol in League City. I'm glad developers are starting to see that Clear Lake is the area's greatest amenity. Urban development surrounding the lake is my dream! https://communityimpact.com/houston/bay-area/development/2023/03/01/league-city-city-council-approves-rezoning-for-new-townhouse-development/?utm_campaign=Impact%3A Bay Area&utm_medium=email&_hsmi=248565804&_hsenc=p2ANqtz--KwmvM0V9vlU4Inn7WQKJi4lD5udTiwjsBcIgWRpfNCIAjHaNZrdkEOimE4oZRuM5nWpDg7ZpIqU2kPRtfEbEqHwPmTQ&utm_content=248565804&utm_source=hs_email
  3. The Taylor Lake Village development had appeared stalled for a while but the rear buildings on the northern tract are up to the third floor. The single family houses are also continuing construction. The southern parcel is finishing utility and road construction.
  4. https://communityimpact.com/houston/pearland-friendswood/transportation/2023/02/14/txdot-announces-start-of-grand-parkway-expansion-project-from-league-city-to-alvin/ Half of Segment B, from I-45 in League City to 2403 in Alvin, will have a construction contract awarded in 2025 with delivery by 2030. The remainder of the project, to 288 will be a separate project.
  5. I think that's the master plan for the property across Waugh (I don't think we've seen a plan for that before). Based on the address and property shape this doesn't look like the future main portion of Buffalo Heights (The Memorial Trails property).
  6. This is underway and below is the location as the address is a bit ambiguous.
  7. New taxiway to begin construction this year and two large prospects are looking at the Spaceport for facilities. https://communityimpact.com/houston/bay-area/development/2023/01/31/new-tenants-technologies-coming-to-houston-spaceport-in-2023/
  8. This is to support the new training ship that will arrive in two years. https://www.tamug.edu/newsroom/2021articles/NSMV-Lone-Star-State.html
  9. Updated plans and official announcement: https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/01/24/seabrook-mixed-use-compass-by-margaritaville.html?utm_source=st&utm_medium=en&utm_campaign=BN&utm_content=ho&ana=e_ho_BN&j=30350025&senddate=2023-01-24 http://seabrooktx.gov/DocumentCenter/View/15365/Presentation-Seabrook-Plaza-Joint-Meeting-Preliminary-PUD-1-17-2023?bidId=
  10. They had one in Houston a few years back but closed it. Either way I think the Spaceport and Houston will be in much better shape with the proposed partnership between Texas A&M, UH, Rice, and others.
  11. Drawings/layouts here: https://www.seabrooktx.gov/DocumentCenter/View/10694/August-4-2020-joint-minutes Previously posted in:
  12. This project has such promise, really hope it comes to fruition. The new parkland on the islands alone would be worth it for me.
  13. Correction: Axiom actually leased 270,000 sf at 600 Gemini. Additionally, The Cannon is opening a 48,000 sf outpost in the same building and a 26,500- or potentially 53,000- sf location in 1150 Gemini. Great news for the Galveston Bay Area space startup scene! https://www.bisnow.com/houston/news/office/the-cannon-innovation-hub-expands-footprint-with-pair-of-leases-and-more-to-come-117211
  14. Some interesting slides from a presentation to city council on development at the Spaceport: Overall site/land use plan: Academic Area: Includes the TSU aviation center and multi-institution aerospace hub TSU aviation: They are moving this academic unit to the Spaceport https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2022/12/15/tsu-lead-aviation-houston-spaceport-health-equity.html Aerospace Hub: If this comes to fruition, the Galveston Bay Area could become the center of the commercial space economy. Let's go!
  15. Can confirm, they've recently leased 146,000 sf in the former Fry's Electronics and 180,000 at 600 Gemini. https://bayareahouston.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/BDU-Issue-80-123022-2.pdf https://www.galvnews.com/business/buzz/article_358a1424-0d77-53ed-a99e-c9467676d220.html
  16. Cruise Terminal #4 being explored by the Port and MSC: It was previously planned for the 2030 - 2040 timeframe but looks like it could be online prior to 2030 if all moves quickly and smoothly. https://maritime-executive.com/article/galveston-plans-fourth-cruise-terminal-as-port-handles-1m-passengers
  17. Some things of note in the MOUs from the Downtown TIRZ January meeting minutes: Cap in Segment 2 at N Main. (I think this was already committed to as the structural cap from N Main to Cottage St. Cantilevered frontage roads to reduce project footprint along depressed sections in Segment 2. http://www.downtowntirz.com/downtownhouston/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/230110-DRA-TIRZ3-Board-Materials.pdf https://www.txdot.gov/nhhip/project-segments/segment2.html These may have been discussed and I might have missed it but these seem like much more concrete commitments for segment 2.
  18. Axiom Space's facility at the Houston Spaceport. Moving along quickly! I didn't get a picture but Collins' facility is complete and occupied and Intuitive Machines is working on their second phase now.
  19. And even more exiting news: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/Callon-Petroleum-office-lease-Memorial-City-17691481.php
  20. Proceeding with selecting one property to perform a feasibility study for potential conversion to residential. http://www.downtowntirz.com/downtownhouston/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/221209-DRA-TIRZ3-Board-Materials.pdf
  21. That menu item would have a better audience a neighborhood over... 😂
  22. Interestingly, Texas A&M also still owns 2121 W Holcombe which Medistar was supposed to acquire when the initial announcements were made about the partnership.
  23. Likely not since A&M's only involvement on that building is owning the land it sits on. This project is a Private-Public Partnership where A&M owns the land (and the academic building, Discovery Tower) and the developer (Medistar) owns and manages the apartment and office buildings and pays A&M a lease fee. As long as the university gets paid it likely isn't an issue for them since A&M isn't planning to occupy space in the office building. In looking back at news articles, it says the apartment tower and garage were both definitely happening by 2022 but the office portion was only "planned" to start in 2022. A&M itself is actually planning a $15 million buildout of shell space in the academic building it owns. https://assets.system.tamus.edu/files/treasury/pdf/FY23/TAMHSC.pdf
