  1. western gulf is there anywhere i can find info on the park, i remember hearing about a meeting they had showing rendering of what was to come, but thats all i got
  2. you know, i think thats what its been, a lack of community stores, like a target, a grocery store, a school, i mean things people need, i dont really think suburbs has anything to do with it, its what those suburbs have that downtown doesnt, downtowns great if u wanna take out family and have a good time, but to live you just cant do it really, u have to go out of your way to find these sorts of businesses and once downtown does establish such businesses, you wont find many people there, i mean throw in things people need along with all these great projects, pavilions, the new city park, all our great arenas, etc. etc. and you have a thriving downtown wow i never really realized it until subdude posted that last comment, what would a wal mart do not only for downtown but for a lot of the cities core, i never realized how much the inner loop doesnt have and how much our suburbs do have, wow quite interesting
  3. holy crap, do we have to bash every single good thing that happens to this city, yeah smart one its the same building, and mybe if you read the article you'd see why its not a brand new building, maybe thats why its called a RENOVATION, and it looks good, bettwr than before, looks more unique man a lot of things are gonna be done by late 2007, Pavilions, the new downtown park, and our library, downtowns gonna be nice
  4. wow thats fast, i cant wait for that, u think it will be done around when houston pavilions begins to finish?
  5. wow thats some time, oh well, lets see what happens in 2 years, right
  6. oh yea i forgot about UHD doing their lil thing, im happy bout that, i like that UHD is expanding, thanx redscare for the update, but western gulf, 2 years? when was the article written? i pray 2004, lol
  7. oh yea, whats the status on the park thing, i remember hearing a lil sum bout that but i dont kno when its supposed to begin or what? someone give me a link, lol
  8. if they dont plan to tear the building down, their gonna do something with it, i mean if we could look into every meeting that goes on with projects dealt for the city, im sure we would feel whats a go and what sint, but in the end something is going to happen to the building, renderings and ideas are always changing
  9. well Houston Pavilions is gonna do all of that, it will be a core for the city, downtowns main street is heading in the right direction in becoming a center for the city, im liking the progress, the city is beginning to build right, build on every lot of land possible and improve on its eye sores
  10. wow i mean who cares what could have been, i mean it didnt happen, but let me say that this looks amazing, a hug improvement since i last went downtown, the bayou looks great, im impressed, i really think the city is getting the idea of how to buil on itself
  11. ok LTAWACS could you please shut up, nothing is more annoying than someone saying that crap over and over, if u aint got nothing imporatant with some sort of interest of whats going on, then shut up, ok now that thats been said, whats up with this project, i mean ive been waiting for someone to even concider this building from the very beginning, its a piece of crap, but land values are flying off the wall in houston, they just keep goin up and up, sooner or later somethings gonna happen to this building, trust me, its inevitable
  12. alright so what really matters is, is this thing a go, are those cranes in that area part of the project getting underway or something else, i would think so, why would they be doing anything to an area for no reason?
  13. I would figure the city being able to come up with 7 mil, right? please dont tell me this is all a bunch of bull, i mean can a place like the House of Blue lease space and the project never get done? or does something like the House of Blues leasing space mean the project is a go? i wish i was head of this project, lol
  14. naw not anymore bro, my economics teacher told me somthing about that we just got thrown out of fisrt place, that sucks huh? lot of sarcasm
  15. bro sonner or later the city is gonna have to grow, we cant thrive on one thing here one thing there, both of these places are going to thrive, the location of Bayou Place is perfect for festivals along the bayou and of course the indie crowd is always going to be there, and Houston Pavilions will be for everyone else, it'll be more mainstream, I mean look at other major cities with a thriving downtown, they dont just have one of anything, they have lots of everything, and in order for us to every see our city grow centrally we have to make it a place for every individual, and Houston is beginning to take the right steps foward
  16. well thats nice, national hcians, but when is this place supposed to open up? is it for sure a go, cause everything in Houston requires some sort of proof
  17. so how bout some more updates on this Hardy Yards thing, is it all a go or what? I havent heard bout this before.
  18. who cares, let the building begin, sooner of later we are gonna be asking ourselves how come Houston doesnt have ENOUGH office space, keep hope alive, downtowns gonna be happenin in the next couple of years, we need the space! lol
  19. Time to get of them surface lots, oh when are they gonna start preparing the land?
  20. Hey I drove by the area tonight thats supposed to be the new Houston Pavilions after the Rockets game and noticed some small structures along the 3 block area, such as a ticket office and a small white abandonded building that has a For Sale sign on it, I was just wondering when construction is supposed to start, and whats going to happen to these businesses? It was directed in front of the Hilton and right beside the tall white building like in the rendering, so im more than positive i was lookin at the right location, what a great place to build such a complex!
  21. LOL yea maybe your right, but it would be more their loss than anyone once this thing is complete, usually when we take people from out of town to houston, we usually go to a ballgame or stay on the north side of downtown, try and keep them away from the undeveloped vacant building of south downtown, but man this is mind boggling news for a city in desperate need of something like this, something with class, and i dont know about you but i think the whole Foley's to Macy's change could have a better impact for downtown, something nationally known to me is better progress, then throw in a Houston House and you got things poppin, lol
  22. I know we complain and talk a lot about what downtown needs, and i agree with about 95% of all of yall, let me say though that its COMPETITION that drives an area, not just businesses, Houston Pavilions is going to compete with Bayou Place as well as Houston Center, its those businesses that right now feel they have it so good, but when the new kid hits the block its a whole new ballgame, and let me say those same businesses are going to upgrade and try and attract people away from Houston Pavilions, thats whats going to start the boom, the city is doing its part with building the stadiums downtown, lightrail, etc. etc., but without competition, business has no real reason to be downtown without people, Houston Center made me sick the last time i went down there, they did all this stuff with new signs and lights, but you step inside and nothing has changed, businesses were unprepared for guess what? a freakin cheerleading competition at GRB, think about if it were something greater, like say the NCAA mens basketball tourney, Houston Pavilions will be the crown jewel for south downtown and great competition and boom for a new city
