  1. what? those mountains make us look stupid, houston is grit, urban, those mountains make us look weak, a soft city, lol
  2. oh so this Houston Mosaic is what i saw from 288, i was headin to the Stros opening day game and saw a crane up and was like wow what are they building now, hope i was lookin at the right thing, lol
  3. again why would the House of Blues lease space at Pavilions only for it to never happen?
  4. obviously she doesnt kno houston, we sprawl but build tall as well, what an ignorant person, oh i forgot she works for the NY Times, maybe thats why, hmmm...
  5. hey has that little staircase leading underground always been at Jones Hall? or is that totally new
  6. i wonder what perceptions others would have of our city if it was strictly the loop and not the outter sprawl that developed? our city is amazing, dallas sucks compared to us, just had to say that, lol
  7. I dont get the Houston sucks thing, take 5 years, but get built, thats all that matters, but yea, sounds like a good development
  8. L.A. doesnt like football, they love the Lakers, nobody even talks about football in L.A. its just not amusing, but yea why build new arena, i love the ones we have now, when the time comes then we will decide what to do, until then, lets let that bridge have its walk another day
  9. yea we need updates, this project is not small, but hey House of Blues signed a lease to the project, so i doubt its a bust, no way would a company invest its time to bring its product to a city only for the developer to say well we arent gonna do the project at all
  10. thats what happends when you have sorry leaders in a great city, but hope is in these leaders we have today, we got a great mayor with a great vision, houston still has the potential for more great buildings
  11. the 7th pic, if ya feel like counting, is nice, very very big city look to it!
  12. better to have a vision than to be blind, right?
  13. oh i love midtown, never realized it was so dense, great place to walk, nice area, i think main should be car free though, i mean have you seen how small of a space those cars have along the train, the sidewalks are wider than the roads, might as well make the whole thing car free, revolve around the train, but idc what they do, its all good
  14. heck yea, smart as well, man this city is building like crazy, i say 2 years from now we are gonna be lookin at a new houston, building are going up everywhere across the city
  15. wharton, do you mean is houston building more up now a day then sprawled out? id have to say yes to that, houston is getting the picture, we got a great mayor who is running things right, doing things right, and in return the city is building right
  16. man just the other day i didnt even kno half of whats going on, now its seems things are running smoothly, go h-town
  17. yea thats true, we need more residential, get more people living downtown, now jumping to thw whole wal-mart topic, in case you didnt know wal mart can build up not just out, if your thinking i want some huge suburban style wal mart in the middle of the city, well ya wrong, if ya look at new york, you can find a target or a wal mart in any of those high rises, but i still understand what ya mean
  18. wow the history of this place is amazing, i kno this is off subject, buton the homepage it says foleys is now macys, "a downtown mini-mall - and just 4 blocks from Macy's (formerly Foleys), department store." Has the name changed already?
  19. well it aint ugly, i kinda like it, not everything can beall glamour, some things just have to be what they are, its better than nothing, i like how the it sits along the bayou, we can all wish for things, but until we love houston for what it is and what its to become we will never be pleased, lets just realize the city is building in the right direction for once, more urban not suburban
  20. oh and thanx God we arent the suburbs, i agree, i just feel when people get accustomed to certain way of establishing retail, such as a big wal-mart that everyone gos too for everything, they want to see that everywhere because they are used to it, but id way rather have different stores for different things, like elecpharm said, a grocery stoore here, an electronics store there, and its happening that way, i mean when CVS first opened up i was happy, because downtown needs more community businesses, and im just saying, but dont u hate when people bash the downtown Foleys, i went there a while back and was quite impressed, its a normal foleys, not some suburban tidy whitey lokin place, lol, but a real city style store
  21. hey u see on the website where they are planning to build a parking garage beneath the park, thats gonna be something different
  22. u sure your talkin bout the right thing, Houston Center is a building/crappy mall that needs some sort of renovation, the park is something the city is planning on starting this summer right in front of Geroge R Brown, with fountains, trees, pavilions for businesses, etc. etc.
