  1. i love it, its texan, its southern, its perfect, i thought it would never happen
  2. that building is incredible, they need to pull that ugly facade down
  3. ok so what is the status on this place, im confused, is it almost sold out or not selling at all?
  4. i think the shops at houston center would be a great place for apartments, when it rains you can step outside on an indorr balcony and watch it hit the glass top, why dont they just renovate the whole place in to residential, id live there
  5. wow i like the little rendering map thingy, im ready for this park, great development for downtown, and tigereye i noticed too that they went into detail with the buildings around the park, does anyone got some valid info on the reality of these buildings?
  6. though it is basically the same building style, there is a good sense of balance, yea i would have rather seen balance with the older strucutre in the middle, but balance is balance, makes things not look so out of place, i cant really say that for this really, lol
  7. yea i have to give in to what hokieone said, he makes a good point, the city sucks at enforcing any laws they set, the difference in NY is that htye actually get on the homeless for not obeying laws, Houston is gonna have to step up enforcing the homeless laws
  8. so true MidtownCoog, the price was mighty steep but i guess for all they are gonna do to this park it kinda makes sense i guess, but id love to see the east end develop in to another midtown, like another neighborhood where people live, eat, work, that would be cool, plus expanding the park across 59 would be great for the whole growth of the area
  9. yea Houston doesnt have to be the same, but your actin like in a city as big as ours that the homeless arent gonna be seen, thats ridiculous, and NY has a way stricter homeless policy than Houston, and yet you see them sleepin on the benches in Central Park with joggers and kids and families all around them, if its all bout JUST BECAUSE, well then we may as well screw downtown development because we dont have to be a world class city with a great downtown, as a matter of fact JUST BECAUSE NY, BOSTON, BALTIMORE, and LA have world class ports doesnt mean we have to have one either, oh and how bout Minute Maid Park and Toyota Center, JUST BECAUSE other cities have state of the art sports stadium doesnt mean we have to have them either, throw the whole downtown development plan down the drain because i mean JUST BECAUSE every other city has it doesnt mean we should, man if you go down Wall Street you will see a crap load of homeless for about 4 blocks if not more every single day all along the buildings, yet you got rich stock borkers and business men walking every single day down those blocks, we arent a city if there is no reality of homeless people, in the CITY its called tolerance, and if ya dont like it then leave to a big plot of land in the middle of nowhere, otherwise i think any individual who cant take a little grit and grime is in my opinion soft, sorry if i offend anyone, crap drives me up the wall
  10. yea i agree, they need to change up Toyotas lighting, but im wondering if someone as city hall is on this board looking at our ideas and requests, lol, cause im surprised at how a lot of our ideas are showing up downtown, maybe its just me, but i gotta say that the city is taking some major steps in the right direction, we are definately beginning to build the right way in this city, ive looked at Dallas boards and they are going nuts with us, lol, makes me proud to be a Houstonian
  11. ok ok ok calm down, first of all the Astrodome thing was a bunch of talk, did you see anyone acutally say they were about to start renovation of the dome at any specific time, they didnt even talked to any sort of business willing to occupy the dome, thats the difference, the parks dont just have a plan and renderings, they have a date when they will begin, they have the business who will be in charge of the restaurant and the cafe, and as for Pavilions its no freakin different, they havent even done bidding for the main retail sections of the mall, just the two towers, its ridiculous to compare these projects to the astrodome idea, and i doubt homeless are going to invade the park, this thing is gonna draw a lot of people, we live in a metro of 4 MILLION in case we forgot, and if you do see a homeless person on the other side of the park, OH FREAKIN WELL, thats why its called a C-I-T-Y not a sqeeky clean suburb, look at Central Park in New York, man we bash every good thing that come to the city, we talk so much about why dont we look like this or have this, and when we freakin get it, we got stupid crap to say about it!
  12. like ive said time and time again, when a business signs a lease they expect progress where they plan to expand that business, and this is definate progress, like brijonmang said, they havent even started bidding on the retail shops, just the two towers, they still got business to do before groundbreaking and i cant wait to expect them to start saying places like American Eagle, Radioshack, etc., etc., thats gonna be exciting, i cant wait for the day when i can go to a great city center mall, before a Stros game, lol
  13. i can finally take a sigh of relief, i thought this thing was gonna be a bunch of talk, but i was wrong, i cant wait to see the full renderings, this along with Pavilions are the two biggest projects for downtown right now, kinda like the Rockets building around Yao and McGrady, they can build around Pavilions and the park, except it wont turn out as bad as the Rockets season did, lol
  14. hey someone has got to take some pics and post'em, i wanna see this, im sure others do too, but maybe its just me, has anyone noticed the lighting on top of our buildings lately, did someone finally get the idea? i was watchin the Stros game and they took a shot of downtown, i saw the top of our buildings with more of a neon lighting on top instead of that gay looking christmas lighting, maybe it was just me, but it sure looked good, especially with the Continental headquarters lit up and 1000 Main helps add some diversity
  15. again Pavilions cant just drop the contract set between them and House of Blues, just chill, its all good
  16. oh so this Houston Mosaic is what i saw from 288, i was headin to the Stros opening day game and saw a crane up and was like wow what are they building now, hope i was lookin at the right thing, lol
  17. yea we need updates, this project is not small, but hey House of Blues signed a lease to the project, so i doubt its a bust, no way would a company invest its time to bring its product to a city only for the developer to say well we arent gonna do the project at all
  18. thats what happends when you have sorry leaders in a great city, but hope is in these leaders we have today, we got a great mayor with a great vision, houston still has the potential for more great buildings
  19. heck yea, smart as well, man this city is building like crazy, i say 2 years from now we are gonna be lookin at a new houston, building are going up everywhere across the city
  20. wharton, do you mean is houston building more up now a day then sprawled out? id have to say yes to that, houston is getting the picture, we got a great mayor who is running things right, doing things right, and in return the city is building right
  21. man just the other day i didnt even kno half of whats going on, now its seems things are running smoothly, go h-town
  22. well it aint ugly, i kinda like it, not everything can beall glamour, some things just have to be what they are, its better than nothing, i like how the it sits along the bayou, we can all wish for things, but until we love houston for what it is and what its to become we will never be pleased, lets just realize the city is building in the right direction for once, more urban not suburban
