  1. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. Lots of people choose where they live based on access to mass transit. Look at the real estate listings in any newspaper from a city with a fully developed transit system.

You do realize this is Texas, right? Automobile is still king in this great state. I dont know of any stable human that moves to a city so they can ride a train. I know of many people that move to particular cities for employment, housing, schools, not trains.

  2. It would be reasonable, since a large immigration of impoverished people to a city can bring Third World cultural behavior and can lead to children of said immigrants to adopt the behaviors and mentalities of the gang/gun/thug culture already established in the city since the 1980s when they are not raised properly (with plenty of love shown and attention given by parents) or given opportunities to involve themselves in things that are positive to themselves and to the community.

The survey also mentions, separate from crime, that immigration is a problem and worry to many Houstonians who see the changing demographics as a threat to American culture. I think this is important, because someday, many of the institutions, traditions, holidays, pasttimes, and just general aspects of American culture will be gone, forgotten, or changed to the extent that they will never be the same as they once were. We take our American culture for granted, and through our need to be politically correct about everything, we overlook what could easily be gone or permanently affected someday.

Take a look at the requirements for legal immigration and let me know if you still believe in what you said.

  3. I have a bunch of old pictures of me shooting a gun when i was six years old. My father drilled gun safety into my head, parents are a big influence on a child's life.

Theres nothing wrong with that Marty. I told you before, my boys could shoot the heel off a squirrel by the time they were 8. I taught them about the use of firearms and firearm safety. I taught them how to hunt and how to clean and eat what they hunted. I also taught them hand to hand combat. I also taught them "the rule". "The Rule" is, bow to NO man and raise your hand to NO woman.

They are not lunatics out committing murder but get on thier bad side, and they are more than capable of putting a world of hurt on ya ;) ;)

The behavior exibited by the kid in the first video doesnt fit in my world.

  4. If you're talking about me, that's fine.

But you missed the point of my topic. It was based on the premise that his comments were not of an anti nature...against Jews. It had nothing to do with homosexuals. The only reason I defended my original post was b/c you bashed me for defending a gay basher and a crack-head, two things I didn't even mention in the post.

I simply wanted to discuss if his Jewish comments were of an anti nature or not. That's it. Even though I've said that over and over, people still seem to miss that. I don't know if that's by choice or not.

Dont worry about it. The gay stuff is a common tactic he uses when he has absolutely no idea about the topic at hand. Keep reading this forum and you will begin to see a distinct pattern.

This guys comments didnt offend me, i have heard things that are very offensive about jewish people in my presence without the person speaking sucj garbage knowing that i am jewish. It can be very eye-opening to say the least ;)

Business wise, i happen to work with a lot of jews. Come to think of it, out of my team of 12, 7 members are jewish. Maybe we are taking over the world :lol::lol:

  5. Always nice to see abandoned buildings and homes go away.

I wonder what will happen to the poor people in the area that are renters, not home owners? I would imagine that the rents are currently cheap. How much longer will they remain cheap when the price and value of land around them rises?

  6. True.

But you're born a Jew. So it's not always a religion.

I see a light of brightness shining in your head :D

I dont think these remarks were anti-semetic.

Im really tired of hearing about gay stuff in every single thread. There are several on this forum geared just for that.:angry:

nmm, pay attention to this thread, i have a feeling you will be able to piece together the answers to the questions you asked me, without my telling you the answers. Let me know when you get it ;)

  7. Back on topic from the thead hijacking, under IAH's proposed development plan I believe the people movers would be removed. The airport itself would end up being configured almost identically to Atlanta Hartfield, with a central rail line servicing numerous terminals branching off at right angles.

Yes you are correct. The airport in DIA is configured the same way. The current set up at IAH takes way too long to transfer from A to D :(

  8. There is no guest parking at Bayou, which makes guest parking an issue on Friday and Saturday. In fact, I don't think any of the historical district lofts have guest parking. I just moved from Bayou to the Beaconsfield, which is very close to 2016. Ample street parking is definitely a benefit of the south side (e.g. 2016 side) of downtown. Don't let people scare you about crime. It's primarily of the nuisance variety and not the random violence type. In other words, not the kind of crime that you really need to worry about if you've spent any time in an urban area.

I didnt think there was any guest parking, but i wasnt sure. Thanks for the info. The lack of guest parking and price will 86 this building for me/him.

The crime around 2016, from what i gather from many posters here, is due large in part to the bus station. I have no concerns for my boys safety, he can handle himself. Im more concerned about the wife visiting him and having to deal with some silly, drunk or cracked out bastard harrassing her. I will drive around the area this Fri. and Sat. to get a better perspective.

  9. You might want to check out this one, it's only $159,000.

The maintenance fees at Bayou are $.45 as opposed to $.80-ish at 2016. You get free electricity at 2016, but Bayou has geothermal cooling, which should keep your bill well under $100 per month. Also, Bayou is exempt for city taxes which equates to a 20% savings on your tax bill. All things considered, your actual cost of ownership may be lower at Bayou.

I did look at this one. I cannot tell if it has guest parking or not. I know that 2016 does. Does this building have guest parking?

The price is still a bit high for me :(

Im looking for just my soon to be 20 yr old at the moment, but i have 2 sons. What i get for one, the other is usually not too far behind, so gotta stay in budget ;)
