  1. A Don Hand pipe dream. No way it will happen. Raveneaux, on the other hand, will begin redevelopment soon. They are starting with Woodland's waterway style townhomes that will line a portion of Cypresswood and will move towards a new clubhouse, etc... The club was purchased by an investment company and has terminated past management. The plan looks very nice... a 'Barton Creek' (i hope that's correct, that's what i hear) style area with a day spa, hotel, etc... I'm hoping that is the case. Of course the plan will deviate based on the success of the stages. Don Hand is fighting the Raveneaux development all the way. It will devestate his plans for Chateaux Raveneaux. On the other hand, I don't understand him. If you want to build a very high end, luxury high rise, why would you build cheap apartments on Cypresswood behind Lowes? That apartment complex will bring down the value of Prestonwood and in the long term affect the whole area. Pretty soon it will be like attempting to build a high end, luxury high rise in Greenspoint.

    2 thumbs up.

  2. Whats with this new Lincoln Navigator Cantera Edition? Its supposed to be only available for the Texas market, but i cannot find any info. on it except for the short TV commercial. Im a current Navigator owner and i am not happy with the hideous retro dash or the new face and ass that the 2007 models have.

Will be purchasing a new beast possibly in 2008 and im now leaning more toward Caddy Escalade. That machine has style! Wake up Lincoln!!! Im a Ford fan mostly but the new Navigator styling is yuck.

  3. Travelocity can't find a route between IAH and Windhoek, Namibia. Is the best route in to fly into South Africa and then take a regional carrier?

Frankfurt and or London Heathrow are the best options to take. Going through JoBurgh adds a lot of time onto your trip. There used to be 4 days weekly service from Brussels as well, but i dont know if it is still going since Sabena went belly up.

  4. If it can promote Namibia as a destination, that would be great- a stunningly beautiful place.

Ah, if only this will mean cheaper diamonds

Good to see the city actively recruiting more Consulates and further solidifying Houston's international presence.

  5. So, how many U.S. airports can handle an A380 now? I remember when they first flew it was only Dallas and New York. How exclusive a club is this these days?

The simple answer is many. Many US airports can handle this plane as far as landing, refueling, tarmac housing and takeoffs go. The passenger terminal and jetway facilities are a different story. Even still, that can be overcome through the use of "airstairs".

Off hand i think think of several......

    Houston IAH

    Dallas DFW

    Denver DIA

    Washington DUL

    Bangor BGR

    New York JFK

    Los Angeles LAX

  6. wealthy mexicans or darker caucasians.....

most of your hispanics who grew up in a caucasian environment take on characteristics of whites anyway....

Look at ones who are Republican..especially that one who ran for mayor not long ago.....

I had to chuckle a bit when i read this post

It reminded me of a person i met in Charlotte, North Carolina. The subject of spanish as a second language came up. He was doing his best to explain to me and a few coworkers how different and much better Spain is over Mexico because the people in Spain are white. The spanish speaking white folk are better, in other words, than the darker skinned spanish speaking folks.

After i finished laughing at him i made it known that it was no longer safe for him to be sitting so close to me >:) The fella was really "out there"

  7. Just curious, do you mean when landing from east to west? It's great because when I fly in from the east the plane flies to a point just east of Bolivar, then banks west over the northern section of Galveston Bay and over Lake Houston to IAH. That flight path allows me to see Galveston, the San Jacinto Monument, and the Houston Ship Channel all the way to downtown. It's quite a sight.

East/west doesnt matter ;) The view of the city of Houston is the same. Only difference is the side of the airplane that it can be viewed from when considering an east west landing :)

  8. A station wagon great design and more interior space than many SUVs along with a 5.7 v8 with 348 HP. Not to mention MDS that can take an 8 to a 6 on the highway.

    Eat my dust.

Your beast is nice! That thing is like a freaking canon on wheels!!!! Ever thought of going to the Raceway Park?

  9. Maybe, but definately no more so than probably at least half the stories your kids will tell you when they are teenagers. I guess you're too old to remember being one?

Let me let you in on a little secret so you can stop making silly assumptions.......

I raised 2 STRONG young leaders, not followers. My boys do not come to me with trivial BS because they somehow have it in thier heads that my methods of handling problems are sometimes extreme

When they bring things to my attention, its usually something they cannot handle or something that needs my involvement, and that doesnt occur often. I dont know your life and how you grew up but i know mine and that of my boys. ;) My rearing and that of my brother was in line with the way i raised my boys. ;) We had a Strong father that didnt tolerate verbal garbage, just as i dont. Theres no room to maneuver in trying to feed me a bunch of BS and they are very much aware of that, i assure you ;)

  10. Herb Kelleher, former head of Southwest Airlines, walking around the airport terminal a few years ago on Thanksgiving Day dressed in a Turkey suit saying "gobble gobble, thanks for flying Southwest Airlines" while reeking of smoke and booze :lol::lol:

He was a character and great leader IMO.

  11. I wonder if the affluent residents are running for positions on the school board? If thier goal is better education and more spending per child, and they have all of this support, it seems school board seats would be an easy win for them. Through being placed on the school boards, they can create such change.

If the goal is to not be a part of the school system all together without participation in school board proceedings then thats a whole new ball game. If they are so damned affluent and so upset with the way school business is conducted, to the point of wanting out, without participating in the school board process, why arent thier kids in private schools? Seems to me that some of the perceived affluence of some of these people is smoke and mirrors-----meaning the whiners are probably living at or above thier means and are unable to send Jim and Jane to private schools.

Rather than getting involved in the school board process, they choose to throw these silly tantrums. This is one whine i will refrain from having with my cheese :blink:

  12. Could it be because he's breaking the law?

Driving 2500ft from one store to another in the same strip center parking lot is a strong enough offense to warrant a ticket? Surely you cant be that mad?!?!?!

Jeebus, your entire rant in post #51 is nothing short of nonsensical.

    Coog, my oldest is 19.

    BTW, the ticket was dismissed!

  13. Its continued things like this lawsuit that make me long for the military. There were nice clear cut ways of handling stupidity there which isnt available in everyday life. This group of stupid jackasses needs to shut the hell up with the infantile opposition to rail and rail along the Richmond line. The stupid "me and my" syndrome rears its head yet again. Most of them are either antique or near antique and are not looking ahead towards the beneficial infrastructure for future generations. None of those clowns will lose thier homes if the rail line goes down Richmond as the people did when an entire neighborhood was disected and destroyed to make way for HWY 288. This lawsuit is stupid and it further attempts to blur the lines between sanity and insanity by argueing and holding up progress through multiple feeble attempts at trying to make the insanity of rail along Westpark plausible and sane.:blink:

  14. Personally, I think it will be a good thing for more 'minorities' to be a part of the world everywhere ... I think people will have to learn to interact with one another and not be so culturally or racially or religiously closed-minded.

That only has a chance of happening in Hollywood movies and in the minds of the profoundly retarded.:lol:

  15. I heard mom holler my whole name

    This made me laugh!! :lol::lol:

My mom used to do that when my brother and i were younger. That hollering was usually followed by her chasing me and my brother through the house with either a broom handle or a mom handle :lol: We grew way tall at an early age and shes a short woman  The mop and broom handles were used to minimized our height over her ;)

The whole name thing was a strong sign that you were in trouble ;);)

  16. I have 4 cars in my name.

    Lincoln Navigator-my ride

Mustang GT convertible- 1st sons ride

    Ford F150 - 2nd sons ride

    Audi TT- wifes ride

The three Fords were all purchased new and have never had any trouble. When each of them reaches 4 years old, they will be replaced. As others here are, im not into driving 10+ yr old cars/trucks and neither will my children.

The Audi TT was also purchased new and it has been to the shop 4 times for various problems. It has not been a good car so far :( I was against the Audi from day one since my big ass doesnt fit into it comfortably and the mechanical problems dont help its standing with me :lol:

The people that hold the factory jobs which manufactor these automibiles that i and others replace every 4 years or so thank us very much. Im sure their families thank us as well since the revenue generated by the sales of the cars help them to put a roof over their heads and food in thier mouths and clothes on thier backs and pumps money into the local-state and national economy through the consistent payment of taxes etc etc etc.

Everyone isnt able to purchase new cars every 4 years and i dont bad mouth them because of that. Its a shame that some people that keep thier autos for 10+ years either due to economics or personal choice cannot do the same.

SUVs as well as minivans come in real handy when you have kids. When the boys were younger and there was some sort of trip somewhere local, we usually had several of thier friends with us. Try hauling a bunch of pre-teen and early teen males around in a compact car and let me then know the state of your sanity at journeys end.:lol::lol:
