  1. He added you because you always have those far out and extra expensive ideas. Good to have an imagination though.
  2. So two consecutive posts saying two different things. Will the HQ be in Houston or Chicago? Looks to be run by the Continental management either way, which probably helps out Houston more.
  3. With Continental's management probably running the new company, I can see them staying in Houston.
  4. I agree that the rail needs to be rethought, but don't replace it with Signature Bus service. That's just holding Houston back some more and adding to road congestion. I wonder what the 1983 plan looked like, because I've read it would have been a bargain for Houston now, especially with the areas that the 1983 plan was suppose to reach.
  5. So, will the Texans start playing in "GenOn Stadium"?
  6. So, what does this mean for the JSC? It appears the Constellation jobs will be transferred over. But, Obama is giving KSC some lovin (because Florida voted for him I guess), and dismissing us. I hope we would come down here and accept the invitation that Mayor Parker gave him.
  7. Was hoping for ExxonMobil to return to Houston. Would have been nice (and still seems to be a possibility). I can see why they wouldn't want to move though.
  8. That was just an example. They'd probably build somewhere else nearby, then.
  9. I think this is kind of old, but good to read again. I remember it being posted here a few years ago.
  10. Much better response. Whataburger >> Wendy's.
  11. Weak. If people want to talk about a new Wendy's opening up in their area, that may comprise the suburban experience, let them. It shouldn't be hurting you.
  12. Now that is looking VERY nice. World-class theme park coming to Houston...soon.
  13. (posted this at Dallas' forum) A breakdown on some of the metro areas: Dallas-Fort Worth MSA - 6,447,615 +146,530 and 2.3% from last year. Natural Increase - 69,479 Domestic Migration - 45,241 International Migration - 31,571 +1,286,071 from 2000. Houston MSA - 5,867,489 +140,764 and 2.5% from last year. Natural Increase - 63,191 Domestic Migration - 49,662 International Migration - 27,996 +1,152,082 from 2000. San Antonio MSA - 2,072,128 +41,437 and 2% from last year. Natural Increase - 19,284 Domestic Migration - 18,984 International Migration - 3,303 +360,455 from 2000. And posted by Scottolini at SSP: Austin MSA - 1,705,075 +50,975 from the last estimate Percentage - 3.1 Natural increase - 18,671 Births - 26,750 Deaths - 8,079 Total net migration - 32,060 International - 6,406 Domestic - 25,654 +455,312 from the 2000 Census And thought this was an interesting quote by "MarkL2023". Seems to believe the economy in DFW will start surpassing Houston soon: Not sure if DFW will distance itself from Houston. As far as economy goes, Houston gained on DFW this decade and expanded it's lead as the decade went on. You can see how Houston picked up its growth towards the end of the decade, where at the beginning, DFW was outgaining it by a larger margin.
  14. Get released. I doubt Houston would let that happen. Plus, as Niche said, a lot of the commercial areas won't be let go, or are in Houston's city limits (Willowbrook Mall for example). That's a lot of tax base that won't be in a new city.
  15. Who rides buses when they are out of town? Many people bro. When I went to Los Angeles last summer with some friends, we used the buses more than we used the rail. And there were a lot of visitors riding those LA MTA buses, too.
  16. It really is a good amount of roller coasters. For comparison's sake, Six Flags Over Texas has 13 and Fiesta Texas has 8. EarthQuest is definitely looking like a great theme park, with room to expand for more coasters. This isn't true. Astroworld was a tiny landlocked "theme" park in the middle of America's fourth largest city. EarthQuest is on the outskirts and has a bunch of room to expand. Not to mention it's very family oriented. Astroworld started out that way, but it didn't last, since it was in the middle of the city. Plus, Astroworld added PLENTY of rides. Astroworld was a roller-coaster enthusiasts paradise for a while (I'd say until 2002 or so, after they tore down Texas Tornado).
  17. Not likely at all in my opinion. Houston doesn't want competition from it's suburbs....like you see in other cities (Dallas).
  18. ^^It's all good. Another example is when the light rail will cross Crosstimbers on the north side. That shouldn't be an at-grade crossing either.
  19. Really? You're going to call me out like that? I never was a METRO hater. I don't think having all of the lines in a subway/heavy rail is the solution, but not all of what METRO is doing is right. You listed all the places it reaches, and it is a pretty good list of destinations. I'm glad METRO is connecting them all together....just not the way they are doing it. There needs to be more grade-separations. If the Uptown Line is not elevated at Westheimer and San Felipe, then METRO is really dropping the ball. That's a traffic nightmare waiting to happen. Things like that. Edit: And DART does reach Dallas' main shopping destination, like METRO will do for us.
  20. I'll continue to eat my meal in the terminal and sleep on the flight. Thanks.
  21. Email this to Ms. Parker.
  22. Doesn't look to be true: http://www.gometrorail.org/go/site/2491/ METRO assigns corridor names during construction, but then will use colors after construction. No use in using colors yet, for just one line being complete. Wait until the other lines are done first.
  23. This Metro on Metro crime has to stop.
  24. Irving seems pretty confident that they won't leave: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/bus/stories/DN-exxon_30bus.ART0.State.Edition1.3cc2381.html I think that they will most likely move. It's about time anyway.
