  1. I see what they did, sorry just looked at the graph wrong. Also didn't know Vegas had that many big boys.
  2. Man, Wikipedia needs to update their figures, we have around 40 152m+ buildings. Los angles has a lot more than 10 too, Wikipedia needs to step up their game. Unless I'm looking at it wrong.
  3. Woah, Downtown reached the average much faster than I thought. Definitely shows that there's a large demand for urban living (dense living, high rise living, what ever you wanna call it) in our core. Must be some decently wealthy people going off rent/sf, wonder how this will affect retail in the future. Overall loving the results. Also about to pass 11k residents, which is nice.
  4. I think it was in an email sent to students living on campus, and some of the faculty/staff. At least that's what some people on campus said.
  5. Seems like the design we saw isn't to theoretical, and might be close to the final design? If both of these get built, it will drastically change the TMC skyline. Just an absolute insane amount of money being shelled out on this product.
  6. So big news happening on the food side of UH. Firstly cougar woods is going to be renovated: Secondly UH will build a food truck park in lot 21A: Finally after the moody towers are torn down and rebuilt, here's what the dining hall will look like: Honestly an amazing rebuild of the dining hall system at UH, can't wait for it to happen. Have a lot of memories staying in moody dining for hours upon hours, just hanging out and studying with friends (also the tendies). I also found a rendering of the new COT rebuild, but I can't seem to find it anymore.
  7. This looks amazing. Love what they did with the old greenhouse, and how they made the mini park; a part of the project. Gives it a whole different vibe when you go outside. Also looks like it's doing pretty good in terms of business. Loving all the extra dining options that are in downtown now. I wonder how this is going to pan out in the long term?
  8. I'M READY FOR THIS. The last of the 4 new food halls to open, it's crazy how many new restaurants/bars have appeared in the last few months. Definitely helps the energy of the neighborhood.
  9. Looks like every tower has been stated as a none hazard. There's about 7 more of these docs, but they're all the same. https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/WebBlobServlet Weirdly enough the amount of cases for the development is at 8 (the 150+ m part). Hopefully we can get a rendering, or maybe even an explanation on what this guy has planned. Seems like it's a lot bigger than we previously expected. https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchResults.jsp?action=searchDeterminedCases&orderCol=6&orderMode=desc&pageNum=1
  10. Just saying can't wait for that parking lot in the 3rd picture to get developed. Hoping it's something extra special. maybe even "super" special.
  11. Lets just get back on topic, I'm sure the moderators don't like us going off this big of a tangent.
  12. I'm not sure, ik there aren't 1000+ homeless just in downtown. I'm sure they're not counting them in this though. Idk where that extra 1000+ people comes from, but it could be from something other than rentals. From the document I actually added up 6,665 residential units (page 12). While on page 4 they say there's only 6,086 residential units in the core. Could they not be counting non-rental units in the household category? Also what's the prisoner population in downtown?
  13. According to "Downtown at a glance: June 2019 edition" from www.downtowndistrict.org. Downtown's Core supposedly has a population of 10,964, with an estimated household population of 9,033. The number of households is 5,283, with the average holding 1.71 occupants. I'm assuming the household part is just apartments, and the rest of population is coming from properties like condos, and townhomes (or something else). There's also a plethora of other information inside the document, ranging anywhere from residential to transit. link to document: http://www.downtowndistrict.org/static/media/uploads/attachments/downtown_at_a_glance_june_2019_final..pdf So far Downtown is looking on the upside, and will hopefully get to the 24/7 pedestrian center soon. It's honestly a great time to be in, and around the core.
  14. I was looking back on the FAA website scrounging for different developments today, and found a few more cases I missed. It seems like there are 7 cases for this development. https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchResults.jsp?action=searchInterimCases Could it be a case like Texas Tower, where they have multiple high points. Or could it be that there's more towers than we thought? Sorry for missing the other cases though. 15. Gonna take TMC 10+ , 150+ m towers to rival Downtwon Htown. But I would say rn it's around 3rd or 4th biggest skyline in Texas. Should move up to 2nd or 3rd in the coming years, especially when some of these skyscrapers are finished. But damn is it impressive how many high rises Houston has.TMC/Uptown alone, could be a medium-large cities' skyline by itself. While Downtown is just on another level of size. This doesn't even count everything else in-between.
  16. Wonder what the market is looking like now? I would say the occupancy is looking at the high 80's, maybe even low 90's now. Considering Summer is the most popular time to move in, it might even be higher. Also it seems after Downtown's residential incentive, many more units are being built. Hopefully this is a sign that Downtown has a great market for residential. Going off the food hall boom, and amenities boom in general. It looks like Downtown is finally going into maximum overdrive, in terms of quality of life development.
  17. https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=403884595&row=8 https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=403884595&row=8 According to the FAA interim cases of Tower C3, and Tower A2 it will be a group of high rises with a maximum height of 53 stories. Also stated, this is a mixed used development with 4 residential towers. Height for Tower C3 is at 600', and Tower A2 is 570' right now. I have a feeling those four residential towers aren't going to be the only buildings built in the final development. Especially since a hotel was stated to be here.
  18. Seems like another renovation is happening downtown. The domino effect is in full force in Downtown Houston, and maybe even Houston in general.
  19. I could see them buying up all of Midtown, and making it a little Australia. 150+ m residential towers, and Vegemite sandwiches as far as the eye can see. A glorious future that brings a tear to my eyes.
  20. Doesn't really look value engineered at all, and overall it looks sleeker. Honestly I like it better than the previous rendering. I'm glad this is being built in the first place, and would of been content with the big tower by itself. The development as a whole is gonna be an anchor for this area, and will greatly expand the ever growing skyline. Looking at the jenga feature of the original render, it really wasn't that noticeable. Hard to tell that there was a jenga feature half the time anyway. Overall, I think the new render is a better choice.
  21. Laura Gillespie of HBJ reported that Lyric market, an upcoming food hall in Downtown Houston, has split ways with its previous vendor (Clark Cooper Concepts). They're now partnered with Colicchio Consulting. Also "Houston-based Capital Reality Group has leased about 70 percent of the square footage of the space to roughly 10 or 12 tenants so far" as stated by the article. 22. So going off of @downtownian post about Downtown Density, and how big the actual core is. Coupled with the population ranges. When can assume that the core has a population density (.7 square miles) ranging from 11,428/mile^2 to 18,571/mile^2. With the overall area (1.6 square miles) being 5,000/mile^2 to 8,125/mile^2. This possibly makes the Downtown Core, the most densely populated part of the city.
  23. I always had a problem with people leaving out Fort Worth, when it comes to metro population talks. It's like they forget there's a city of almost 900,000 people right by Dallas. What I'm getting at is, without Fort Worth (taking in consideration what a Fort Worth metro population would be); the now Dallas metro wouldn't even be close to the size of Houston's metro. I mean we're 2x the population of Dallas, aren't we? Anyway, Fort Worth should be given a lot of credit, towards getting the DFW metro population to where it is now. But as we all know, Houston is The Giant City of Texas. Now that the rant is over. Can't wait to spot all the updated parts in google maps!
  24. I got a feeling good ole' Downtown Houston has passed 10,000 residents already. Considering the absorption rate of downtown apartments. Hopefully seeing the demand for living in the core, developers will put downtown residential development into full steam. Considering what Hines is doing, I would say this is just the start.
