  1. Sugar Land never latched on as they probably did it best out of the suburbs and took time to develop their own brand.....they never associated with Stafford (next door) but caused Missouri City to adopt similar principals on the HWY 6 corridor Sugar land requires that "look" as you can't build a restaurant with the Houston or other area "look"...you got to have that generic look and some hate that as they say you cannot distinguish basic fast food restaurants
  2. he pushed for suburban sprawl and got it...that's his legacy
  3. if he never killed the monorail in favor of his personal projects..man
  4. it is.....they don't promote it and the teams...it's light years behind what it was just 15 years ago and it was going down then they let Lamar High School cannibalize the rest of the district and take the best football talent and even then they get bounced early.......alot of other schools are just fielding teams for fun and have no need to play football....the games are beyond empty...they don't advertise their tournaments as the Jaycees Tournament has regressed from the top tourney in the city to nothing... they schedule the traditional; rival games on bad night..need I go on?
  5. it's bad now....outside of Charlie's show, which stays free from lame games, uninformed guests, etc., the rest is a waste of airwaves KCOH 1230 does the best at mixing all the topics in but you can only cram so much in the 2-hour window from 5-7. The rest of the stations just plain suck and are trying to be like each other instead of being different....everyone is on there to make a name for themselves.
  6. too much under the table stuff for 290 to be a true freeway....they upgraded the roads in the small towns past Brenham instead of Bypasses
  7. too bad HISD athletics is dead though and the administration doesn't care about marketing what they have...the fieldhouse is 20 years too late
  8. Didn't Harris go to college with O'Brien? Homeboy hookup... neither of the morning shows are of interest to me...same topics...they go off the beaten path to generate jokes...when a female comes on there you can hear the slobber, need I go on? They need some serious diversity on Houston radio and not just a black voice to talk about pro sports (which the trend is now get a pro athlete with no training)...our stations do not cover local teams, colleges, high schools, etc....it's pitiful...
  9. and like Magnolia, they will do their best to separate the "new money" from the locals..it starts with an elementary school, then a middle and high school as they will complain about the 8 mile drive to school
  10. you only hear it when a DJ comes in and does a live mix I laugh when our so-called market leading stations can't come up with a track when someone requests it...
  11. vanilla radio at its finest... the reason why KMJQ and KBXX are tops in the market even though their formats suck? diversity....
  12. you blink while driving on 290 between the Outlets and Spring Cypress you think you're in the same area...the same exact thing...the site plan had a Jack-In-The-Box also...
  13. same thing to me....nothing special...might as well call the station KFOT as its texans all day and all night...when they speak on basketball its obvious they're very limited vanilla radio at its finest
  14. I swear I saw a toll booth before 1093 heading south but the bellaire exit says last free exit...help me out?
  15. Jews own Fiesta anyway...they just use the name to appeal to hispanics
  16. the new bottleneck will be at bellaire as that's the last free exit
  17. http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/18420720/7400-W-Grand-Parkway-S-Richmond-TX/ scroll down as they're the main anchor
  18. that drawing looks nothing like what's out there....
  19. is it good or hype? or by me being black, is it black folks bbq?
  20. the little bump in the Heights is a temporary...if whites are for real they're going back to Sam Houston, Kashmere, etc...
  21. white flight is the cause as no one would believe Cullen was a predominately white area at one time....blacks ended up following instead of making it their own and leaving behind folks who weren't as motivated as the first generation of families...you know its trouble when you see the suburban districts go through the same thing the key to this process is reducing white flight as it promotes, black flight, etc..
  22. or Bellaire, Westside and Lamar...or Pearland ISD as there are neighborhoods closer to Dawson off Cullen where kids are changing addresses and going there instead of Worthing, HISD, etc. ask any african american kid from those 2 schools where they live in HISD and 95% will provide you with an address zoned to another school on the south side...I've been to graduation parties in 3rd ward for kids from Bellaire..lol HISD's open enrollment has created that problem as it has drained neighborhood schools.....if they enforce the zone changes Jones is back to regular enrollment...if they make kids play sports for their zoned school alot of schools grow The suburbs have hurt but not as bad as FBISD's enrollment has dropped...charter schools such as KIPP and Yes smack dab next to HISD schools are the killers
