  1. The fountain and statue have to go, b But the thru traffic lane for people to (stupidly) circle around would be disrupted. Not to mention the entrance and exit roads would either have to be reduced in the number of lanes, moved, or taken out altogether.
  2. The terminus for Minneapolis' light rail is the garage of mall of America, but it stops at both terminals of msp before that. For it to end at the hobby garage will require some interesting routing options.
  3. Years ago, it was THE route to take during rush hour, these days it moves a BIT faster than the freeway, but with the added thrill of wondering if your suspension is going to die on that particular day.
  4. I think it is the fact that not EVERY job that people commute to is in Downtown, Greenspoint, Greenway, Galleria, or the Med Center. Additionally, not every commuter goes to a white collar job. The Issue is to be able to get to one part of the city to another as quickly as possible and for travel options from outside the city to connect to those. I've said this on a couple of other threads, but I believe if a few more quickline routes were to open, it would help out tremendously, particularly if there are "express" to these major population centers and branch out from there. If this were to happen, they would act as transit centers to other areas. As far as trying to add Rail to Richmond Ave, years ago it was a very speedy way to get from one side to another, but that is quickly changing. Putting a rail down the center of it would speed up transit considerably. It may not help the people that DRIVE down there, but we'd be able to move more people in and out of the city while the rest of the street is in gridlock.
  5. I think it just comes down to management. Being at the Front porch last night, I saw how packed it was as opposed to every bar within walking distance. Some people know what works and there is always location.
  6. Thanks ed! I have been very pleased with my humble Sony. Two of my lenses are actually minolta branded and I have saved quite a few bucks by buying the older lenses. One of the benefits of the steady shot contained in the body instead of the lens.
  7. I figure I'd start a new topic on Photography since it gets brought up occasionally and derails a topic a bit. My time is limited so I don't want to head to another forum blog and much rather talk to those of you that share the same interest in Architecture and Houston as a whole. On this topic I hope to discuss photographic locations/opportunities, equipment, lens selections, and maybe even a photo walk if there is enough of an interest. Currently, I own an Sony a55 with the following lenses: 28mm 2.8 50mm 1.4 18-85mm 3.5-5.6 70-300mm 5.6 some other novelty lenses.
  8. I shoot APS with my humble little Sony 55. I'm leaning towards the sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6, but I'm waffling again. I'd like a faster lens at night, but not willing to pay more then $500 for a lens. Then again, I still have 2 or three more lenses to buy before I think my collection is complete.
  9. Maybe it might might be easier once the other lines are completed to show how much use it is with the ridership it will have.

    METRORail Green Line

Possibly, but I like to roughly keep the six month spacing in videos, though. I have to go through there today anyway and I'll take a quick peek.
  11. I've been eyeing the tamron 10-24mm. Don't have the magazine in front of me, but also looking at something from sigma that has something similar.
  12. Believe it or not, I might jump in it once I get a lens I'm currently eyeing. It would allow me to take pics above those annoying street lights.

    METRORail Green Line

I would suspect that, weather permitting, the main street intersection will be closed for construction every weekend, in part because of the station construction.

    METRORail Green Line

I suspect so. The entire line will shut down this weekend.
  15. Just passed it a bit ago, had a few people up in top. Curious to know what business is like.

    METRORail Green Line

This phase of construction is making picking a weekend to film the newest progress on the line challenging. For the past several weekends, they have been shutting down the Main street intersections. Do you guys think I should just suck it up and do it on a weekday, wait for rainy weekend, or pray they will finish it at the end of July?
  17. I initially took this picture a few weeks ago, but I have since seen it as far south as the Museum District. How long has this been going on? I've seen the company name on other buses previously, though. found their website.
  18. Well, I saw some porta potties out there, so I guess its a go.
  19. I don't think Chevron Tower should factor into the how much vacant space is available downtown, because I'm sure they intend of using every single foot of that space.
  20. How long was the trip? Did you go back the same way?
  21. What is the final straw to a number of them, are those that are located south of the city would be denied a moving stipend because it isn't far enough.
  22. It just occurred to me... I wonder how many Exxon Employees are going to try to jump ship and work for Chevron? I've been talking to a huge number of Exxon employees and plenty of them are not happy about going to the campus.
  23. You need to put it in perspective, I've been to this bar and its normally just a pretty good time there. But like ANY bar in Houston, you're going to have idiots show up and cause trouble.
  24. I understand that. I read the HAIF the same as you do. I'm just talking about a specific area that I am usually in.
  25. Just curious, how did you capture this shot? While I think you used a wide lens (18mm?) to grab it, did you turn around while biking, or was it mounted?
