  1. pineda, the school board election is coming up in Klein. Just curious, are you going to the debate at Klein on May 4 I believe, and who are you leaning towards, if you don't mind me asking.
  2. My understanding that Northgate and Olde Oaks wanting out of Spring goes like this. Those neighborhoods are forcing the SISD Boards hand by doing their best to vote down any School Bonds that are up for election. Basically trying to get kicked out. In the meantime they have petitioned Klein for annexation, and it has been discussed by the board behind closed doors, reults of those discussions are something I am not privy to. Anyhow, Klein really has nothing much to gain from annexing these neighborhoods since the tax base is all residential. So I have no idea which way they will go. It is a process that will not be easy, and I can't believe that SISD would willingly give away that area without getting something in return. Perhaps Klein can trade SIS those areas, and give them Klein Forest, or the south sliver of the district in return? Yeah, in their dreams. Another funny thought would be if Klein took in Northgate, and Olde Oaks, then zoned them to go to Klein Forest. Grass isn't always greener.
  3. With Klein growth projections Klein Oak will still remain a 5A school. If Construction starts in 2008, and that is a big if, then it will not be completed until 2010. That is 4 more years of growth in the area. I have no idea how many students will be pulled from Klein Oak, Klein Collins, and Klein, and I also have no idea on a name. I do know the location of the school, but I am not permitted to say where since it is not yet public information. I have so much information on Klein I can tell you that Schultz ES is getting new carpet in 2011, and that Klein Oak is getting more tennis courts in 2010
  4. Is that HEB going to be a Central Market or just a regular HEB Store?
  5. I know all about Kleins growth plan becasue I am in the consulting business that deals with school district construction. It is my business to know these things. There are 2 new High Schools to be built, one is scheduled to start construction/development in 2008, mind you that is a forcast date, and I personally don't thinkit is realistic. The other which is further north in the district is the one that is about 7 years from start. On a side note, out of all the districts I have seen, Klein has done better than any other as far as future planning for growth is concerned. The NW side is an incredibly difficult place to plan for district growth because of land acquisition. Klein really has done a great job for the future.
  6. Both quality neighborhoods. I agree with staying away from Klein Forest. I do not know how old your kids are, but Klein is building some new schools in the area due to the tremendous growth. A new High School will begin construction in 2008 that will take students out of Klein High, and Klein Oak and it will be loated off Spring Cypress. And a ton of new Elementary Schools are going in neighborhoods. Klein considers Hassler ES to be head and shoulders above the rest and that is feed by Gleannloch Farms, which is also going to get Frank ES which will open next year. I don't know much about Cy Fair, but neighborhoods I would consider would be further north of 1960, along Louetta, and Spring Cypress. I would look at Memorial NW over Huntwick, just my opinion of course.
  7. Wow, this along with a brand new huge Carnival ship coming in 2007, plus the huge Princess ship already there this terminal is gong to be crowded. Looks like Galveston needs to expand some more.
  8. Nice, I have been waiting for that eyesore of a center to get a facelift. Seems like they have been advertising that it was going to change forever.
  9. The GP directly affects multiple neighborhoods in the NW community. My house for one stands to lose 14 ft of my back yard to the project if it goes in its current location. That was not the case when I built there. The majority of people in the area of Spring do not want it becasue they do not see the benifit of building it, which would require the use of eminent domain on a huge level to obtain the right of way. Alot of neighborhoods stand to be disected, or lost if they build this road. I am no expert on this road and the politics of it but this section is incredibly controversial and it all centers around John Lindsey. I can't prove it of course, but the way he is pushing the building of this road you would think he has something to gain from it.
  10. Was that the guys in the median wearing Civil War gear having a picnic and blocking a lane of traffic? WTF was that all about? These were about 12 people in the median having a picnic and drinking etc while a traffic jam occurs around them.
  11. Sunday I tried taking my daughter to the zoo and traffic in the area was a nightmare. The main entrance to the zoo was not reachable because all the streets to it were closed. Anybody know what is going on to make it so miserable down there? Or any secrets on how to get a good parking spot within reasonable walking distance?
  12. All those neighborhoods are solid. I currently live in the area, Gleannloch Farms to be exact, and grew up in this area too. I personally would never buy a house in Mem NW just because of all the stop signs they have on Champions Forest Dr. Klein is eventually going to build a new High School off Spring Cypress so there is a chance Mem NW could be re-zoned to attend that school instead of Klein in the future.
  13. Chayn's, or whatever was a bar for older singles. I remember being 21 and a buddy of mine and I walked in to see what it was like and we were pronptly told that we could not come in because the minimum age to enter was 25. So I just chalked it up to being older divorced hags in there that wouldn't be worth my time at 21.
  14. Wow, bringing back memories. North Oaks Mall, my best freinds dad owned Harmony Surf and Sunwear in there. Games People Play. That place was awesome, especially when they built the water slide. And I remember when the Champions wall was not there, and before Willowbrook Mall. When Del Frisco's was Del Frisco's, and west of 249 was no mans land. And going to Two Peso's, which is now a Jared's, and hanging out in the parking lot behind McDonald's at North Oaks in high school with everyone else. Good times, good times.
  15. utpsyc: I drove past that property this weekend and picked up the flier on the for sale sign. It is down the street from my folks place. Probably the nicest house in the neighborhood imo, definatly the best maintained. If I were to buy in Greenwood that is the house I would want. However I do not want my kids going to KF becasue of the south side of the district, I'll stick with the new HS that is coming in 2010.
  16. Why would Mike care what happens in Spring when his district stretches all the way to Cedar Park in Austin? He probably has no idea about the concerns the residents have about the Grand Parkway, and probably doesn't care like most politicians. I find it funny that they call Section F2 controversial. The controversy is that the politicians want the road, the citizens don't. So much for the voice of the people.
  17. If this goes through it will be a great asset to the area which I live in. I am curious how they will thread the needle between Champions Golf Course and Raveneaux Golf Course at Champions Forest. It is a pretty tight squeeze through there. Also, Cy Creek gets pretty dang high when a good rain comes along, will there also be drainage improvements as well?
  18. The biggest abusers of the red lights downtown are Metro bus drivers. Are they subject to being issued tickets as well? Not only are the buses running these lights more than anyone I see daily, but they are the biggest a-holes on the roads downtown. Cutting off drivers, hogging multiple lanes and clogging traffic. Can the city do something about that?
  19. I grew up in this areas too, and graduated from Klein Forest in 90 so I have watched it deteriorate into its current state along with Westfield. I now live in Gleannloch Farms and enjoy the area alot and look forward to the planned growth that Klein is pursuing. I understand that the residents in Northgate, Olde Oaks, etc have petitioned the Klein School District to be annexed out of Spring ISD and into Klein. Hoping that their kids would attend Klein Collins. Don't know if it will happen, but I know those people are upset with Spring enough to shoot down their bond program at the voting booth. Kleing is wrestling withthese same prolems at KF and have no real solutions for the problem. It is affecting property values in Greenwood Forest which is where I grew up, and my parents still live.
  20. Peggy Hamric is a moron for making comments like that. It is my understanding that she has the support of John Lindsay who is retiring. It is also my understanding that Lindsay wants to consult ont he land aquisition for the Grand Parkway at a salary of $5,000 per day. Scumbags. Not only is she in Lindsays pocket, she has also bad mouthed Klein for their planning of the new High Schools. She is an idiot who talks before she does her homework. Dan Patrick has the only real solution for this problem and gets my vote on the GP issue alone
  21. The MAJOR problem with this designis that it messes up my AM stations on the radio. How am I to hear sportstalk now?
  22. Nobody knows what will have to change yet, it is way to early to tell. And the feature on top is not an eagle, it is a pegasus according to the original drawings. If this drawing moves forward it will be modified drastically. The Orion people came back with a 20% reduction in budget. That is a big chunk of money, so I think the building, if built will look nothing like the original intention.
  23. Spoke with my friend who is involved in this project still and last time we talked which was a while back his opinion was that the project was dead. However the Orion people have come back to the table to talk about starting up again. The only catch is that they have less money than original planned and the budget as of right now is much smaller. If built, the building will not be as elaborate as once thought. My guess is that the building will have to go through an rather large redesign to get rid of some of the architectural features tht are driving up the costs. We will see. On a side note the question about the work going on right now is the completion of the utility lines being installed and the prep work for the building foundation. Ths was put under contract in order to get started while the building itself was getting the problems with the design worked out.
  24. There is suppossed to be a new FBI building going up in that area, maybe that is it. Can't be sure, they are pretty hush, hush on these things.
