  1. Just how do you thik those bonds get paid off? Propoerty taxes will rise due to this, not to mention the additional staff that KISD will have to hire to manage a program of this size, the current staff is...................shall I say incompetent.
  2. There is a rumor about a new project in uptown, thought I heard some rumblings but thought I would test the waters here to see if I am just hearing things.
  3. Correct, however I can't justify voting for this program when KISD is wanting to build a new KHS, when they can remodel the current building to meet the needs of the community and students for half the cost. KISD won't even explore this proposition. For the savings they could potentially build 2 additional elementaries, or a new Intermediate, or update older buildings in the south half of the district that desparately need updating.
  4. You could always vote no. The Bond election is in May. While the district needs to address growth issues, I feel the current leadership in KISD, not the Board, but the District employees are effing this thing up.
  5. Great question that seems to continually go unanswered. mrfootball I believe you are being paged on RP concerning the TTC. Might want to get over there.
  6. The #5 High School will be located on Spring Cypress east of huffsmith, and west of old louetta on the land currently occupied by a private land owner. The brilliant minds at KISD want to build this high school, and immediatly name it Klein High School. It will be called KHS while the original KHS is demolished and rebuilt on the same spot for the price of $100,000,000. This will last for roughly a two year period all the while the resident s who live across the street from the new high school (Gleannloch, Memorial Creek, etc) will still be forced to attend Klein Oak. The KISD Bond Program is getting a little out of control, I for one will not be voting for it if they keep with this plan. KISD need to grow and build new facilities, but demolishing a school to put a new one in its place tio the tune of One Hundred Million Dollars is not fiscally responsible. There are better ways to update and improve that campus.
  7. Here is a link to a rendering on the OliverMcMillan website and the link is posted earlier in this thread. It has changed some, but from this you can get the general idea. http://www.olivermcmillan.com/deve/houston/index.htm
  8. I have seen the renderings they are phenominal. This project won't dissapoint. And this project is for real and for sure. The property is secured, the financing is in place, the preconstruction budgets, schedules, and drawings are currently being developed.
  9. That is somethng I don't know. Until actual Construction Contracts are in place I think there will not be any official announcement.
  10. The W Hotel is coming and is estimated to break ground in September of 2008. It will be included in a complex that is touted as a "mini Galleria" sort of a Rodeo Drive for Houston. The W will be built with a La Meridian Hotel, and a Condo tower all in the same complex. The Pre Construction on this project has already been underway for a few months.
  11. Anyone who has built roads or anything that has noise barriers involved will tell you they will not have the impact you are wanting. In order to deter noise from traffic, or a train in this case you will not only need a noise barrier, but at the minimum 100' of full grown vegetation as well. That isn't going to happen. Just think about this, I live in Gleannloch and hear the train all the time, and I have friends that live over 2 miles from the tracks, and complain about the train noise. A sound barrier will not do squat with a train whistle.
  12. This issue will make or break the bond for Klein. The opinion of the district is that they will build HS #5 and open it with the name Klein HS and have all the kids in Klein attend this school while they are building the new Klein HS at roughly $100,000,000. All the while the neighborhoods like Gleannloch and Memorial Springs which are across the street form HS #5 will still be going to KO which is on the other side of the District. Great for Klein High people, but for the rest of those who are waiting to go to a new HS will just have to wait so KISD can take care of it's baby. After the 2 or 3 years it takes to build the new KHS then these neighborhoods can attend the new HS#5. This is not a well thought out plan imo.
  13. My vote is for Rick Mann hands down. He was a former President of the Board and member for 15 years. He did not run for re-election due to his job requiring too much travel and he felt he wasn't meeting the expectations of the board. That travel has ended and he now has the time to give the Board the attention it reqires. The man knows what he is doing. At the forum the other night it was very clear who was better fit for the position. Averest is a great person but I feel lacks the skills to meet the demands of the position. And Larry Allen will be re-elected by default since no candidate is running against him.
  14. You will be sad to know that the land behind Krimmel is owned by Klein but 8-15 acres of the NW corner of the Klein land is being taken by the Grnad Parkway for their glorius road. Not to mention the neighborhood next door to Krimmel is selling homes to non suspecting buyers. Those homes are going to be taken and torn down if the road goes through. If you call their sales office they deny it and will tell you the GP is only propsed and nothing is certian.
  15. I don't think the F-2 is dead, unfortunatly What I seem to recall is that the idea of expanding 2920 or incorporating the GP with 2920 was asked as an alternative to the F-2 segment. And the GP association in all their infinite wisdom decided that the need for both was apparant. I still think the F-2 segement is alive and kicking just out of the public eye. We will wake up one morning with construction equipment behind our homes one morning without warning.
  16. I saw the rendering of this project this week and it is freaking incredible. Even people in my office who have built all over the world think it is phenom. And it is not a Barney's going in with it.
  17. Most building coming out of the ground today have some sort of LEED status, however, the Platnium Status is the highest level achievable for LEED. The BP building falls into this catagory and there is no there platnium project this size in the country. And sorry there is no link that I know of.
  18. The building is located on the western edge of the BP Campus. It is the first of several new offices they are going to be putting up in the next few years according to BP's master plan. Helios Plaza is a new building designed to house BP Oil and Gas trading. It is 6 floors and has a large parking garage attached; it is a world class building including a LEED Platnium design, the only one in Houston, and the largest in the country.
  19. The first of two tower cranes is going up over at BP today for their new building named Helios Plaza. The building is getting ready to start going vertical hopefully next week.
  20. 10 stories of simple cookie cutter mid rise is not impressive. The 6 story building BP is putting up is not only a LEED Platnium design building it is the largest and most sophisticated LEED project in the country, potentially the world. Not to mention after the completion of this building the plans extend to a new office tower, retail centers, and hotel all on the Katy Freeway on BP property. 6 year timeline for the completion of this development.
  21. The second tower of that Energy Center breaks ground later this month. However, Those towers are nothing compared to the World Class Facilities tha BP has coming out of the ground. Their new Helios Plaza which will house BP traders. It is part one of their master plan and may be only 6 floors but there is no other building like it in the country.
  22. The Grand Parkway finished in 4 years?!?!?!?! Are you freaking kidding me? No way that happens that fast.
  23. When you are saying that the building is "green" I assume you mean the building is going to be designed and built according to LEED standards. Do you know at what level they are going to design the building for? Currently the largest Platnium LEED project in the country is going up in Houston.
  24. From the Vintage Park website, it does look like the HEB will be of the Central Market Variety: "HEB is a dominant company in the Texas grocery market. Famous for its "Central Market" concept, the HEB at Vintage Park will capture the traditional grocery features with expanded Central Market features, offering everything from a sushi bar to outdoor furniture. "
  25. Since the cat is coming out of the bag. There are two hotels on the site. One the W which is 26 floors, and two a La Meridian which is 12 floors. The third tower is condos and is 36 floors.
