  1. It is not the Ritz carlton. And whether you believe me or not I don't care, but when this gets to be more official and given the green light remember who told you first.
  2. More like a year to 18 months from now, groundbreaking that is, of course if this actually becomes real.
  3. I would just hate to see areas that really need the help and the growth issues addressed rejected becuase this bond issue gets shot down over the new KHS plan. I doubt Klein will do this.
  4. I prefer to remain as anonymous as possible but if you send me a PM I will try explain as much as I can. Just a small briefing on this project, if this materializes it will be dramatic. I have not seen the renderings but they do exist, and the explaination of them is really quite stunning. Think tall, very tall.
  5. I believe that a large group on that committe think this is a good idea, however that large group is primarily made up of KHS parents. I don't think this will be well recieved outside the KHS zone. Maybe they should pull that section out of the bond package since it is the most controversial and have the KHS issues voted on independently. Just a thought.
  6. Guys, like I said I shouldn't of said anything so early. This could end up being a project that never happens. So give me a little time and I will dish out info regardless if this moves ahead or not.
  7. This project is too new to give any specific details. I was just wondering if anyone here has heard anything about it. I probably should have kept this under wraps but it is sounding like a pretty high profile job. Even bigger that the W project imo.
  8. I agree, however they should not practice this at the expense of others. The KHS plan is nothing more than pandering to the wealthier KHS families. If I lived in the South end of the District I would be FURIOUS since they were wanting a new HS to relieve pressure off of KF, instead the district expanded KF, and it is still overcrowded.
  9. Well Gleannloch Farms goes to KO, Memorial Springs which is west of GF on Spring Cypress goes to KO. Basically any neighborhood North of Spring Cypress, and East of 249 that is in the Klein School District goes to KO. Some travel as many as 14 miles to get there. And my understanding is that Greenwood Forest is slated to be rezoned to Klein in the future, however that is merely just a plan, and not fact. It makes no sense to zone a neighborhood that has KFHS in it to another school. but KISD Admin has yet to show any intelligence in the zoning dept so anything is possible.
  10. The way I understand it is that HS#5 will be built and once open it wil be named Klein High School and all students at the current KHS will go there while the current KHS is torn down and rebuilt brand new. All the while the students who would eventually go to the new HS#5 will still be at KO, (and there are some kids who are currently at Klein that will proabbaly go to the new school so they will start there from the get go) and will not be able to attend the new school until after the new KHS is completed.
  11. When #5 opens it will be named Klein High School for two years. So naming it is a mute point for at least 5-6 years.
  12. I don't think this is any stage except that a conceptual design has been established and possibly some meetings. I know the land has been purchased, but whether or not something is built on it is a question mark. From what I understand it could be a couple of towers, one that might rival Williams tower, again this right now is pure speculation.
  13. There is a rumor about a new project in uptown, thought I heard some rumblings but thought I would test the waters here to see if I am just hearing things.
  14. Correct, however I can't justify voting for this program when KISD is wanting to build a new KHS, when they can remodel the current building to meet the needs of the community and students for half the cost. KISD won't even explore this proposition. For the savings they could potentially build 2 additional elementaries, or a new Intermediate, or update older buildings in the south half of the district that desparately need updating.
  15. You could always vote no. The Bond election is in May. While the district needs to address growth issues, I feel the current leadership in KISD, not the Board, but the District employees are effing this thing up.
  16. Great question that seems to continually go unanswered. mrfootball I believe you are being paged on RP concerning the TTC. Might want to get over there.
  17. The #5 High School will be located on Spring Cypress east of huffsmith, and west of old louetta on the land currently occupied by a private land owner. The brilliant minds at KISD want to build this high school, and immediatly name it Klein High School. It will be called KHS while the original KHS is demolished and rebuilt on the same spot for the price of $100,000,000. This will last for roughly a two year period all the while the resident s who live across the street from the new high school (Gleannloch, Memorial Creek, etc) will still be forced to attend Klein Oak. The KISD Bond Program is getting a little out of control, I for one will not be voting for it if they keep with this plan. KISD need to grow and build new facilities, but demolishing a school to put a new one in its place tio the tune of One Hundred Million Dollars is not fiscally responsible. There are better ways to update and improve that campus.
  18. This issue will make or break the bond for Klein. The opinion of the district is that they will build HS #5 and open it with the name Klein HS and have all the kids in Klein attend this school while they are building the new Klein HS at roughly $100,000,000. All the while the neighborhoods like Gleannloch and Memorial Springs which are across the street form HS #5 will still be going to KO which is on the other side of the District. Great for Klein High people, but for the rest of those who are waiting to go to a new HS will just have to wait so KISD can take care of it's baby. After the 2 or 3 years it takes to build the new KHS then these neighborhoods can attend the new HS#5. This is not a well thought out plan imo.
  19. You will be sad to know that the land behind Krimmel is owned by Klein but 8-15 acres of the NW corner of the Klein land is being taken by the Grnad Parkway for their glorius road. Not to mention the neighborhood next door to Krimmel is selling homes to non suspecting buyers. Those homes are going to be taken and torn down if the road goes through. If you call their sales office they deny it and will tell you the GP is only propsed and nothing is certian.
  20. 10 stories of simple cookie cutter mid rise is not impressive. The 6 story building BP is putting up is not only a LEED Platnium design building it is the largest and most sophisticated LEED project in the country, potentially the world. Not to mention after the completion of this building the plans extend to a new office tower, retail centers, and hotel all on the Katy Freeway on BP property. 6 year timeline for the completion of this development.
  21. The second tower of that Energy Center breaks ground later this month. However, Those towers are nothing compared to the World Class Facilities tha BP has coming out of the ground. Their new Helios Plaza which will house BP traders. It is part one of their master plan and may be only 6 floors but there is no other building like it in the country.
  22. When you are saying that the building is "green" I assume you mean the building is going to be designed and built according to LEED standards. Do you know at what level they are going to design the building for? Currently the largest Platnium LEED project in the country is going up in Houston.
  23. I will also be very interested in the new PASA report. With KISD screwing up the latest numbers so bad, maybe on purpose to create a certain outcome for zoning, but I am just saying. Anyhow, I understand that withthe new Frank Elementary School which was built to relive both Hassler and Khorville, it will have T- buildings onthe first day due to overcrowding on day one. No room for expansion which was originally intended. Where Hassler will be under capacity by 100-120 kids. Way to go Klein!!! I fully expect another rezoning next year since this part of the district is so screwed up.
  24. So Klein is shelling out at least another $70,000 to a firm that has already screwed this up once only to do it all over again. You must be freaking kidding me. Glad to see the wise use of tax dollars here. From my understanding a couple of residents puttogether better numbers than this group did. Just imagine if those neighbors didn't have real jobs since it appears they did it all in their spare time. The leadership in Klein is not showing me anything impressive here. They got caught with bad information by a group of concerned citizens and now think throwing more money to an already proven to be failed formula of conducting student surveys is going to solve it. This is pathetic.
  25. Chris, your analysis of why the residents of GF were upset on this issue is wrong. At the max buildout of GF only 30% of the kids at Frank will be from GF. Other plans were submitted by GF residents that split the neighborhood more fairly using transportation, growth, and diversity as arguments to make the split. Klein will not budge as usual when they make up thier mind and hopefuly the board will be wise enough to see the errors in Kleins numbers. For example in the original proposal Klein had the numbers so off it was disturbing. When it was pointed out by residents they brought in a "Consultant" and I use that term very losely. And in 24 hours had new numbers to present, yet no boundries were changed. The perception in GF is that the district is trying to make Hassler an exclusive school by keeping the most expensive neighborhoods in the area zoned to it and moving others out. If you look in GF at the lines it becomes real apparant. This change that the District has made and will not change thanks to Dr. Cain, and Tom Ricker who is in way over his head here has changed Gleannloch forever and not in a good way imo. Perhaps when you run for school board you can fix the mess the Cainand Ricker have caused.
