If Arlington is smart, they'll force the team to pay for the retractable roof. But hey, it's the Metroplex, so why do I really care if they get hosed or not?

There's already been rumblings from Arlington citizens saying they might not be happy with this.

The mayor of Dallas also had a press conference today and said that he would have liked the stadium in Dallas but he is more excited about new plans for the Trinity river he unveiled today  and that it would be a better investment.

I hope so went to a game there in July and it was so hot we had to leave!  Also a ugly stadium, why don't they build in Forth Worth?

Fart Worth would be too far west. Mid city area is actually perfect but yea I wish they would build it near downtown D like Htown

  3. Wow. It seems like only yesterday when the current park was brand new. Time flies. I really wish they'd build in Dallas but you know Arlington wouldn't let them go. They want to be the attraction town. Whatever. I would like the Minute Maid park style. Dallas has room on the southside where they should build this.

And the Dallas Omni, with 1001 rooms, is 23 floors.  So that would make this one about 6 floors.  :)  Probably closer to ten floors than twenty.

Unfortunately you are correct Mr Houston!:angry2:

Im flipping through channels this morning and came across one of those boring Dallas Commission Meetings at city hall. I was about to change the station when I noticed they were talking about Midtown/Galleria. Im still watching it now. The hotel is only FIVE stories. They are showing the renders on poster board. I don't know if they are even online yet.

Scott Beck is there too. But from what I understand this project isn't officially part of his Midtown Project. Scott Beck was just there to support this Marriot project.( I could be wrong)

But in his speech he kept hinting at 20-40 story towers they would be building in the future. :D

This Marriot actually had to be LOWERED to 5 stories from 8 stories to fit some sort of stupid zoning law that dictates any building over 6 stories has to have the bottom 2 stories stick out 20 feet wider than the rest of the bldg. Zoning laws are so strange. They are still talking about open spaces and entrances and exits. Boring but interesting.

The renders show a hotel much more wide than tall obviously. The colors appear to be white with black glass with a modern look.

EDIT: The motion has been approved. So I guess that's good.

    From today's Dallas Morning News

New storage projects land in central Dallas

A new development starting up on the east edge of downtown Dallas isn’t for another office tower, urban apartments or a hotel.

Paul Glover’s project on Canton Street near the Farmers Market will be a 6-story self storage facility

This is actually a good thing for many people in that dense area. So many renters not staying in one spot permanently. They need more public storage. There's actually another one going up up right here off Forest and LBJ.

Mckinney & Olive sure has the best parking garage I've seen.

  6. Wowzas I didn't recognize that was Dallas in that first pic! Looked like H-town for a second. That Skyhouse 2 is looking good. Already  showing off its sleek vertical design and its only half way done. 25 stories will be a nice size for that spot.

I wonder if we'll ever get a Skyhouse 3! haha. It would be nice on central Expy or High-Five.

That Omni is a totally different "spread out" design with 2 sections. It could have been a more vertical design like Fort Worth's. This one at Galleria/Midtown should have a smaller footprint.(=more vertical)

  8. Dallas has a semi-secret scenic "hill country" on the southside (see nature photos thread) It's only a matter of time till it gets discovered by more developers.

Trash aside, you can see the topographic variation in that photo and that's just the tip of the iceberg. The region is a diamond in the rough.

  9. 2929 Weslayan is gorgeous . One Uptown is also great but  half the size. Not sure why people are comparing. A better comparison might be the Bleu Ciel VS 2929 though its a few stories shorter.

Or heck even the Museum Tower VS 2929. Its crazy how Dallas has the taller condo tower out of the two,

  10.

AT&T should look at other options besides downtown Dallas.

Why? Don't you want the Perot Tower to be built? Sounds like you don't.

And why did you post a photo of Houston? Very odd.

And yes it does look like 609 Main. This has been discussed already.

Also you want to tear down the Renaissance Tower just because it has "ugly" headgear? Why not just take the spires off? The bldg itself is actually VERY nice if you've even seen it much closer.

Kevin, when your car has a flat tire do you destroy the car? wtf man.
