  1. Looks like the wheels are turning on the Trammell Crow Met Life Park District towers on 2101 Pearl St. :)

They are the purple jello cube in that Uptown photo I posted.

The permits have been filed and the tallest is now 34 stories not 32.

Edit: I believe this will make an impact on the skyline and help transition height of downtown into uptown.

  2. Thank you Mr Onion.. For bringing me that info so I dont have to go looking for it.

You are the best friend ever!

Did you know about the original Houston Tower? Found it on Wiki.

    Houston Tower General information

    Status Never built

    Location Houston, Texas

    Cost USD 1.5 billion

    Height Roof 6,864 ft (2,092 m)

    Technical details Floor count 500

Pretty insane uh? You could probably see it from Mars.

On the building youre talking about: I hope they build it. Really like that design too!

  3. Lol.  I've heard that before but Im not so sure about it. Okay. Well then I guess if D-Uptown keeps building it will overtake D-downtown. Especially if any of those Harwood towers go up.

I do believe the part about the 100k workers but not overall size.

  4. That area looks like half the size of the Texas Medical Center.  Cool!

Not all of it is shown in that view. That view doesnt show eastward or further up and east where more condos are going up. Though I agree it does have a TMC look to it. About 80% its size I'd say until those new towers fill in it'll be much a closer match! :P

  5. No leadership on the city council. From what I've heard the Mayor is fed up with it and wants something done. No one in control seems to have any real direction on the matter.. The area has a lot of potential. I think something will happen in the next 5 years.

Personally I wish they just put a damn on the southside and let the river fill up to a point where its pretty and usable to people like the lake in front of Austin. The damn can open up during heavy rains to prevent flooding. Just my idea but Im not civil engineer.

  6. I always thought that Dtown built their highways like Houston with only concrete. Is the asphalt thing a newish development, is it simply an overlay (like on Beltway 8 for a portion or Tomball Tollway), or am I just wrong on all accounts?

I don't know much about road construction but that whole underground highway is brand spankin new. So the black asphalt isnt covering up something old. Its all new. The videos kinda explain more about it.

    http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/2015/09/first-major-project-set-to-start-in-dallas-midtown-district-along-lbj-freeway.html/

Construction is ready to kick off on the first major development in Dallas’ Midtown redevelopment district along LBJ Freeway.

Apartment developer Mill Creek Residential has purchased a 4-acre property just east of the Galleria Dallas complex where it will construct a luxury apartment community.

    Quote:

Mill Creek’s planned rental community will have 321 units in five story buildings.

The project will be similar to two apartment projects the developer has done along North Central Expressway north of Uptown

This is great news. The area is revving up..with property sales too.(read related links) Now build those bigger towers! :P

  8. Forbes rated Houston number 1 as the fastest growing city 2015.  Austin number 2 and Dallas number 3, but that might include DFW.  You guys are tied at the hip.

Houston should overtake Chicago as number 3 city in U.S. by 2020. Chicagoans on the net talk trash about H-Town and I defend it. They are scared of falling to number 4.

I'd like to see Dallas retake number 2 spot in Texas. SA's larger area benefits them but when you compare counties (not metros) Dallas Country has almost 700k more people than Bexar county 2,518,638 Vs 1,855,866. One could argue it has a bigger city feel to.

/and Dallas number 3, but that might include DFW.  You guys are tied at the hip./

Of course it does. The list is about metros. Sugarland and Baytown is included in yours.

Seriously we should be proud that Texas has the top 3 spots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

That's a huge statement. The rest of the country is hatin it.
