  1. Installing some pretty stout pilings. On the left, in between the preserved cement cross-beams, they have added reinforcing cables. You can kind of see them.
  2. Update: Late October move in. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/life/home/design/article/AIA-Houston-Architecture-Center-new-HQ-harvey-15652866.php?utm_campaign=CMS Sharing Tools (Premium)&utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral#photo-20118156
  3. I have been given permission to share the following: This applies to both buildings on the block.
  4. This would be a great use of this space. Right in the heart of the Justice Center (court-houses, jury assembly, etc) - pretty important and impactful place to make a statement about lynching and the fraught history of justice.
  5. Really ups the ante on trying to retain the other warehouses further east on Commerce.
  6. Mia Bella’s brunch slaps. Welcome return to the neighborhood. It’s been at least five years since they closed up shop at Main and Preston.
  7. Can't see from this photo, but the ciderblock structure, whatever it is, does not appear to go all the way down to the ground floor as viewed through the door.
  8. This structure has been torn down. Anyone got a lead on what's up with this?
  9. Wish I knew. Did you see that cinder-block chimney looking thing coming out of the roof?
  10. Hines is busy. Crane going up on their residential project across the street.
  11. RFP for the onsite restaurant: http://www.downtowntirz.com/downtownhouston/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Southern-Downtown-Park-Cafe-Operator-RFP.pdf Highlights: Cafe set to open March 2021. Indoor seating for 56; patio seating for 40. Exhibits for RFP: http://www.downtowntirz.com/downtownhouston/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Southern-Downtown-Park-Cafe-Operator-RFP-Exhibits.pdf
  12. Was really thrilled to see the demo company truck outside. Hope they start making progress.
  13. No real activity here, but they have erected temporary chain link fencing around the Commerce Street side of the building.
  14. I peeked in for a look around lunchtime. Didn't stay for anything to eat, but wow. It's a great looking space completely unique in downtown (so far). Lot's of energy and the pictures don't do it justice. Great amenity for both downtown workers and residents. Looking forward to some late nite Mala Schezuan soon.
  15. How about "No, not that jail, a different jail."
