The Best Little Dog House In Texas At 902 Fairview St.
hindesky replied to midtowndweller's topic in Montrose
That is me on the bike, I actually talked to the guy that took the picture, he didn't know what it was. It's going to be a veterinarian doctors building. Edit: It's actually going to be a doggie day care. -
I rode up to the barge, and turned around. I've been further east in the past and yes it becomes a dirt trail. First time I rode I felt uncomfortable because it looked like a homeless encampment. This time I saw several people walking with dogs and 1 bike rider so it felt much more comfortable. I always get off at Talente Bilingue because 2 sets of people have been mugged with guns for their bikes, phones and wallets near Clayton Homes.

Was chasing a Bike Tag but I got a late start and rode around too much after I found it. Another player posted his find about 1 1/2 hr before I got home after my ride. Turns out the Tag was in the parking garage of the Methodist Admin building on Greenbriar. I ended up doing 3 parking garages(18 floors) before I found the right one. I did the pink one then the white next to it and finally the right one at Methodist.

There are about 8-10 of these along the fence line, seems like they are pumping water into them. I wonder if they are doing remediation work to the soil? I know there was a warehouse here for a long time, I wonder if the previous owner polluted the ground? Anyone know what kind of work was done at the old warehouse?

Truck backing up with part of the tower crane. Talked with a Harvey worker who was directing the truck, he said a new tower crane will be coming in a few weeks for the new Horizon high rise build.- 547 replies

Could TMC Development Ever Spill Into Rice University?
hindesky replied to Highrise Tower's topic in Texas Medical Center
People would revolt if they gave up part of Hermann park away and no way in hell Rice is giving up any land, they need more land not less. Rice owns Rice Village and they could take over some of that if they needed to expand westward. TMC has tons of room south and east. -
I I believe it was a warehouse district in the 40's -70's before it started getting gentrified. Randall Davis was the first to repurpose the Dakota Lofts in '92 which used to be a Bute Paint factory. If I'm not mistaken this was one of his early projects that got his career as a developer started. There was also many rail trunk lines that serviced the warehouses, you can still see some of them on Sterett St. in the middle of the street and along the now demolished warehouse. That is why the warehouses were so high so they could load and unload freight. I'm sure @astrohip probably knows more of the history of the area. I know people rag on Randall Davis for his taste in architecture but he has done a lot for the Greater Houston/Galveston area to restore old buildings. hindesky. Randall Davis is often given credit for single-handedly revitalizing downtown Houston. He certainly has changed the landscape of the million-dollar home market and has had a major impact on Houston as the first loft developer in the Bayou City. The Dakota Lofts were the beginning of a series of projects for Davis that included the renovation of the Hogg Palace and Rice Hotel. One of his early projects, the Metropolis, was the first high-rise built in Houston in 12 years. It was followed by Gotham and Renoir and now the Manhattan, a partnership with Gerald Hines in the Galleria area. http://htexas.com/New/randall-and-heather-davis/ http://www.randalldavis.com/portfolio/single/dakota-lofts
