  1. During a lecture at UH, they stated that they may have issues with financing at the moment (as usual), but they still are trying to push forward with it. Or something like that.
  2. If it's anything like the firm's other projects, then it should fit in well with the midtown gentrification trends, sans Perry. Oh, and the retail is a plus.
  3. I was referring to Sesquicentennial park, actually.
  4. I do like the park portion along the bayou, with those lit columns and such, so yeah...
  5. From 59, one can see the curved latticework starting to go up on top. Looks like the rendering will indeed be accurate!
  6. There's an Azuma in the ground floor of the Baylor bldg/garage off of Fannin/Main in the TMC, if I am not mistaken.
  7. Ran into this rendering while poking around the Chron archives: It just MAY have SOME retail or something at the base perhaps; either that, or this is just the rendering for the leasing office/complex gym/etc. The design is....typical of what's been going up around Midtown; not exceptional, but somewhat tolerable. Link to story where render was found: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/busine...ff/5546743.html Saaay, any word on the Post Midtown expansion? Wasn't that already underway, or has that been mothballed for a while?
  8. High rise class? What year of the program were you in when you took that? Eee, I have a long way to go...lol
  9. The individual structures themselves are interesting, but it looks far too much like a Greenway or Westchase type of development to fully take advantage of the transit/access amenities. Swamplot states something similar: http://swamplot.com/even-better-than-green...1-19/#more-5689 I certainly hope they will at least make some changes to this development, if it is to get off of the ground at all.
  10. Devon might want a larger solid chunk of space than 480k sqft though. Most large firms prefer that, so perhaps there COULD still be hope, ceteris paribus.
  11. Let's hope they don't chop 30 stories off of Mainplace or anything like that!
  12. Well, it was probably considered "great" since the Starchitect Robert AM Stern designed it. In fact, it's not even original; a structure designed by him in California or something beforehand bears a striking resemblance to the Hobby. It seems that most Starchitects can get away with that these days (ie Gehry and his multiple clones of crumpled-tinfoil buildings). Perhaps the editors at Phaidon enjoy stirring us architecture critics into debates over things like this; maybe they are just as sadistic and argumentative as we are here. *Line Deleted, disregard*
  13. I heart the waffle slab system they're using there!
  14. Yeah, 1984 or something. Maybe you're familiar with the joke somewhere else on the board?
  15. Perhaps it was self immolation due to its exclusion from Phaidon's 21st century atlas, while it's neighbor down the street got a space? Yes yes, I still can't stop laughing at that argument/fact.
  16. I see you've resorted to a Goldilocks perspective to architecture these days.
  17. Say, looks like Target will be moving to the new development; there's a logo on the building kinda far back.
