  1. They need to come back to Sugar Land! The last time they were here, it was in a bad location, next to a doomed grocery store (Albertson's). Perhaps a location in Lake Pointe next to Whole Foods would perform significantly better.
  2. Consuming pork is entirely within his rights and religious freedoms, and most level headed Muslims would not bat an eye to an outsider doing that. Only such religious fanatics like the Taliban would be infuriated by the dietary practices or other actions done by others. If "normal Muslims" had issues with other folks consuming pork, then their bigotry against all of swine-gobbling humanity shows.
  3. 1: No. Hell, I'm outer loop, outer beltway, outer 6/1960, and outer 99 at the moment. Just another uni student living with the parents. 2: No. 3: No. I don't drink.
  4. Does anyone else here remember all of those Science toy store chains we used to have all over the place? Ya know, The Nature Store, The Nature Conservancy, The Discovery Channel Store, the PBS Store, etc. I don't think any of those places even exist anymore, with the majority of them closing before 2000. When I was a child, I'd spend most of my allowance money there on science related trinkets, such as bug kits, rocks, microscopes, telescopes, etc. I don't think these "little people" ever had the chance or desire to experience anything like that, save for the rare trip to the overpriced HMNS gift shop, or something similar.
  5. I've been to DG many times, and the Pavilions only once. It was kinda lame when I went. My usual hangout is the museum district and Hermann park, along with the Sabine to Bagby Promenade.
  6. I was thinking that they could rent the building out as a tactical paintball venue or something along those lines... They could have week long battles, with teams setting up in different units, with supplies and tactical units that could be captured for extra points and the like. They would charge a lot, but there are people who would pay for something like that. Well, they could also use it as a movie set. Zombies in a skyscraper!
  7. I thought the Ideson building had some sort of historical display or something...?
  8. Looks like something out of a late 80's or early 90's cartoon or something. Come on, people!
  9. Quite a nice office indeed, but it isn't really that much different from the Houston office. The main differences I see are the "warehouse" portions with the high windows (more natural light), the exposed columns, and the higher ceilings. The Houston office shares most of the other components, including the coffee bar, designer furniture, shared spaces, etc. They even managed to get the landlord to allow them to construct a glass staircase connecting the two levels of their office. The SF one is definitely better than ours, but the Houston one is still nice.
  10. I'm surprised that the San Antonio zoo made the list! The last time I was there, in late 2006, it wasn't too impressive. It wasn't bad though; some of the enclosures just seemed kinda small.

  12. Absolutely gorgeous shots! Thank you!
  13. They are probably not getting enough sun and or too much water. Bougainvilleas prefer to be stressed out now and then; ours are actually blooming quite well through this drought.
  14. Yeah, too easy. Time for a stroll canal-side while wearing wooden clogs and enjoying the tulips in bloom.
  15. Lake Flato, eh? They're quite a distinct firm indeed, and they do have some pretty neat projects under their belts. The UT School of Nursing and Student Community Center in the TMC is one of theirs, in fact.
  16. Awesome! Thanks! Oh, and it looks like that tower thingy at Memorial and Studemont is already topped out here! Sweet!
  17. Psst Niche...is this sorta similar to your dream lair thingy? Well, other than the lack of the Geodesic dome on top, it's quite similar in design! Look up the Melnikov House, in Moscow, Russia.
  18. It's EIFS, which is even worse. Think Styrofoam with a mesh backing, covered in acrylic, laid on top of a moisture barrier, and plywood. Yeah...
  19. The world of architecture and development in has slowed down a lot, so that is most likely a contributing factor to the slowdown. Furthermore, I am not sure if Google has caught up to the new URL yet, in terms of searches.

  21. Welcome to the Internet. It is serious business, because being made fun of on it constitutes a massive attack on your reputation.
