  1. I was thinking the same thing..... But..... The workers are not wearing any sort of PPE (maybe other than gloves) so I doubt that they are double checking "bad stuff". My guess is that they are double checking for something but, given the lack of PPE, it can't be "bad stuff", IMO.
  2. I agree. There is a LOT of vacant land in DT. Let them build a nice suburban looking hotel maybe over on Bell by the other one. I am fine with that. 25 years from now when there is no more infill left and when the economic use of that hotel has passed, the wrecking ball will come, bulldoze it, and put up a high-rise. All good.
  3. It appears to be soil testing. You can see the drill rig in the back.
  4. Traffic barricades up. Walker is closed in front of site. Will it stay closed for the duration of construction or is this temporary?
  5. My wife and I will be there the week it opens ...... Anyone know when that might be?
  6. I am a huge fan of modern/minimalist interiors. But, I hate exposed concrete. I just looks "unfinished and unsightly" to me. Others will justifiably love it. But not me.
  7. I wonder how many starving, inebriated multi-millionaires will be hitting the drive through at 3am? Sounds like fun, though.I hear that this location is testing a new cut of French Fry. "Ferrari Fries" in an effort to attract all these folks.
  8. Please correct me if I am wrong..... The incentive is paid over 15 years I thought. If I am correct, and I might very well be wrong, the time value of money would make the incentive less than half that. If I am correct, I also wonder how that 15-year period is effecting the development of rental buildings vs. condos. If a developer built condos and sold them all, I am curious as to what mechanism he would use to preserve the incentives come to him when he is not the property owner any more. All that said, it is very likely that I have this muddled up. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  9. I have a sneaky suspicion that they are going to want to make this building a floor or two taller than OPP.
  10. If memory serves me, they announced the second tower the day after City council voted to extend the tax credits. Seems like developer always wanted two towers but only IF the credits were available.
  11. Until you move in January.......
  12. I have been that store a couple of time on the weekends. Each time (Sundays) there was 20+ women or young women shopping for stuff. It seemed "adequately busy" to me.
  13. There is a huge function room and enourmous patio at OPP that faces east on the 8th floor ( same level as the pool). Sun pours in during morning hours. Not the same as the pool facing the green but, quite nice none- the-less.
  14. If these two towers come into existence, they are game changers for the area.
  15. So, that would be the lot behind the 4 Seasons and adjacent to the Bar "Reserve"?If so, a tall building there would crush the view of all of the 4seasons south facing rooms and apartments. Oh well.
  16. I'm curious: has any housing stock come online downtown since the completion of the census in 2010?
  17. I have only been around DG for a month. I too noticed the grass. My take: the park is being loved to death with far too many big events and concerts. I do understand the need for some organized events but, did the park really need to host earthday, a concert with earthday, and a movie all on the same 10 hour block last Saturday? I am also told that there will be a summer concert series too..... 8 consecutive Thursdays or something..... Add do that the organized activities on the weekend and the grass will not last.
  18. Walked by today..... Lots going on..... Encouraging.
  19. Wow! That is great news! I didn't know that the parking lot was under different ownership! That holds hope that something terrific could be put there! Thanks!
  20. That building is a shame. The building looks marginal but the use of that prime lot for a bunch of private surface parking essentially on discovery green is utterly foolish design. Opportunity lost.
