  1. Yeah, but Phil's BBQ sucked pretty bad.
  2. This is correct. They either round up or down.
  3. Why is it every time a new bar opens someone claims its going to be filled with d-bags? This isn't going to be a club or hip place to be.
  4. I know gumbo and Danton's Seafood has pretty solid gumbo.
  5. This peeked my interest until I read "family friendly alcohol-free event". Perhaps I will goe to Warren's and then make it to the park.
  6. It seems like ot will be a nice place but I don't like the setup. There are too many booths; however, the patio is awseome.
  7. I call BS. They will screw everyone by turning it into valet.
  8. I went with a friend yesterday at 7:00pm. It was pretty crowded with a 30 minute wait. I had the buffalo chicken, but it really wasn't my thing. The spicy hot sauce didn't go well with all of the cheese; however, the big chuncks of bacon were perfect in the dish. My friend had the Rustic which I liked better. Both of our dishes came out luke warm. I will be back.
  9. Midtown is not dying. New bars are still popping up, just not the fancy clubs that tend to last only a couple of years.
  10. I'm not sure if there is enough going on at the moment to support only foot traffic because the area is still too spread out other than pockets here and there. Washington Ave. needs more bars, restaruant, or other entertainment if they truely want to shut down the street. It would be great to see street performers, food vendors, and art along the scene. I would like to see the area completely shut off from traffic at some point, but only if there is enough business to support the foot traffic. I do like the idea of allowing Pedestrian, Pedicabs, Taxi's, and Jitney's only. They just need to be careful with how they approach this idea while not scaring the people away. They will need a lot more parking for availble for example. Houstonians are also lazy and don't like to walk; I'm not sure people will be happy about paying for a taxi just to go 3/4 miles down the street, and they aren't going to walk down the road unless there are some sotps along the way. More traffic signals would just make things more congested. I make it out to Washington Ave. every now and then to drink at Taps, Dubliner, or maybe Brixx/Drinkery on occasion, but I definitely won't be going if I can't park on the street. And I'm too stubborn to pay for valet. Perhaps they could keep one side of the street open for parking, the two middle lanes for jitney, taxi, and pedicabs, and the other lane for pedestrian.
  11. Add a few more bars and shut down the street from 9:00pm - 3:00am. I checked out 360 Spot Lounge Sauturday. It's a pretty nice sports bar - kind of an upscale class Buffal Wild Wings. There are three huge projection TVs and smaller tvs all around. My only conmplaint is the high ceilings don't make for good accoustics, making the game difficult to hear.
  12. Just scan through this list. http://www.urbanspoon.com/n/8/747/Houston/The-Galleria-restaurants
  13. Like I said, I can name at least 4x as many in the Gallera area.
  14. Well, I did post this after a downtown happy hour and wasn't thinking clearly. I still stand by my statement that the Galleria area is more of a downtown the the real downtown. The Galleria would support the Angelica better than downtown. Don't be ridicoulous. Nothing compared to the Galleria area - and most are open late. You may have me there, but Mama's is open very late. There isn't much to eat after 8:00 downtown conpared to the Galleria area though. I could probably name 4x as many places to eat after 8:00 in the Galleria arae. yes it does
  15. Well, the Galleria is more of a downtown than downtown itself with the shopping, 24 hour restaurants, and bars. They just built downtown wrong in the 70's and 80's.
  16. I have noticed some nice carports around the area. It's going to cost too must to build a garage.
  17. Excellent poboys and breakfast.
  18. I live in the Heights area and need a carport before it gets hot. Does anyone have any recommendations for an installer, and more importantly, around how much one of these will cost?
  19. I believe Tampico on Airline sells fresh fish. I know you can pick out your fish while dining in.
  20. Yes it's a bar themed list, but they all serve food. Porch Swing Onion Creek Boom Boom Room Cedar Creek Perhaps should be on a different thread, but I visit these places at least once a week.
  21. Over 51% of the sales are alcohol...meaning they area a bar that sells food.
  22. I'm good with dogs at a bar atmopshere...Porch Swing, Woodrow's,hell...even Onion Creek which doesn't allow dogs anymore. However, dogs do not belong at a restaurant. Patio in the back please.
