My point was literal as to say that it actually is at UT. However, I digress and agree with the above points. Heck half of the Texas Medical Center has affiliation to UT thru MD Anderson when you look at it that way. Anyway, like arche said, good to see new school construction in Texas regardless.

The project broke ground this week. Several buildings will be built in phases. It will be crazy how dramatic this area will look in a couple of years. Proud that a new medical school at a top tier university in years is being built in Texas. Link to master plan pdf: https://www.utexas.edu/operations/masterplan/documents/MedicalDistrict20130509.pdf

UT broke ground on its new medical school today and phase 3 of the project includes the full build out of DKR. President Powers made the announcment a few days ago as noted in another thread. These are some of the images and models of the proposal when the north end zone project was approved in 2006. At that time the seating capacity was estimated to become 114,000 surpassing all Football stadiums in the country by considerable margin.

Awesome, definitely a nice shot.

Is this from the Exxon building?

Glad to see they are continuing to invest in their hometown. One small correction though. Think the site you are reffering to is bound by: Hutchins, Pierce, and Jefferson. Drive by it all the time coming/going to work. Been under construction for probably 2+ weeks.

GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.
urbanize713 replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Downtown
With a high end hotel accros the street a perfect scenario would be the Sakowitz building be restored into a high end department store. A great example would be Nordstrom’s. They are more rare than others so it would be an automatic draw for people to head into downtown and from my understanding since they are higher end they don’t require quite as many sales as other would to remain in the black. In addition Nordstrom’s flagship store in Seattle was restored from a previous department store much like the Sakowitz building would need to be. -
Heard this weekend should see some activity

I am sure this will generate a few responses but seriously, is The Woodlands to Houston what Conneticut is to New York?

SkyHouse Houston II: Multifamily At 1044 Jefferson St.
urbanize713 replied to lockmat's topic in Downtown
I am not sure of the name but in Pennzoil Place at the corner of Milam and Capitol there is a tiny cafe that always seems packed. I almost want to go check it out because of how full it seems which is probably due to its size. With that said I think the retail size isn’t bad and if small it may get full easier which will mean more retail will need to open….- 722 replies

Work has picked up, that circle entrance thing closest to the street has now been wrapped in glass. Not sure what that means for the rest of the building.

Chevron Skyscraper Proposal At 1600 Louisiana St.
urbanize713 replied to tangledwoods's topic in Going Up!
I cannot disclose the relationship but I personally spoke to someone who is ACTIVELY working on the tower project from inside Chevron. That conversation took place this year. They echoed what has been said on here wich is cash will be set aside/earmarked at the end of the year. They stated that unless something drastic happens once funding becomes available the project will move forward.- 1,170 replies

Only thing that comes to mind for me is Lincoln Rd in Miami but I have an easier time seeing that near the Galleria than Downtown

Chevron Skyscraper Proposal At 1600 Louisiana St.
urbanize713 replied to tangledwoods's topic in Going Up!
Sorry for the mistake on the garage. Thanks for the correction Houston19514 I should actually know better since I have a friend who works for Exxon and who I have picked up/dropped off at that garage to get his vehicle. Also because it's the only other downtown structure that connects to the Exxon building via tunnel because of security concerns.- 1,170 replies

Former Exxon Building Conversion To Residential At 800 Bell St.
urbanize713 replied to TheNiche's topic in Downtown
Agreed. Isn’t Hines still enlisting new tenants for 609 Main? Seems like the top two floors of that building would be a pretty neat/iconic place for the relocation if they have to move- 690 replies
