Ola may be opening soon at 3010 Milam St.
The restaurant finally launched its website and Instagram. I think their Facebook page has been up for a few years.
Ola means only love allowed. Looking at their website, it seems this is health-conscious eatery that will offer vegetarian and/or vegan-friendly items. Their Instagram bio reads: "fresh, flavorful food lovingly made from scratch."

Since when does this venue have a 400 square foot patio? Do they just mean tables running alongside the building or have they built out a more formal patio area on the side? I haven't walked by this location in several months.
La Calle utilizes the sidewalk as patio space, so I would guess this concept will do the same. And I'm all for more restaurants offering street-front seating.

You're right. Privacy is used as a theme night for some night clubs and bars, including Space.
However, one of the owners behind Ratio recently filed an entity for Privacy. They also applied for an alcohol permit under the same name.
While an entity filing, a trade name listed on an alcohol permit, and an Instagram account aren't always conclusive proof (often businesses list one name, but change to another upon opening), in this case, it's more than likely an indication Privacy is preparing to take over the 2401 San Jacinto space.
I find it interesting the group behind Ratio is also taking over or rebranding Space. Prior to Ratio opening at 2301 Main St, Rose Gold operated there. Mario Azodinia acquired Rose Gold from Eighty Six'd Group. He also operates Space. Azodinia also owns others bars and clubs around town. Parma - which was previously an Eighty Six'd concept - and Seaside Lounge are among them. He is also linked to the bribery scheme involving Mayor Turner's former aide William-Paul Thomas.Interesting! Thanks for the follow-up.

Bicyclists' message to automobile drivers is "share the road." So it seems kind of entitled to demand full rights to a hike and bike trail. I would rather shout "on your left" to a walker than deal with cars and delivery vehicles parked in a bike lane. Bikes and pedestrians should be teaming up in most cases.

The astrodome could be a hotel, multiple restaurants, parking garage, indoor park, AND beer hall with room to spare. And any renovations would pay for themselves within a decade.

Replacing nightclub Space at 2401 San Jacinto St is Privacy. It's a bar and lounge from the group behind Ratio, located at 2301 Main St, Suite 200.
I think it will be more of a hookah bar and nightclub. Food is served at Ratio, but I don't know if Privacy will include a dining aspect.

I know you do in-depth research before posting, but I'm wondering what else you have seen relating to this change of branding. "Privacy" is a name used by instagram.com/InfluencersHTX to promote Saturday nights at Space: Instagram.com/privacysaturdays.
I know that Ratio was created by either part or all of the Influencers group and seems to be doing well.
Space has always been crammed to capacity with $40 cover charge and a line around the block, so I'd be interested to see how they would replicate that cash flow with a lounge.

That might be the case but Houston, nor the US had the 2026 World Cup back in 2017. Landing hosting duties earlier this year likely changes things and might have revived this project. Maybe new ownership (Ted Segal) and its reinvestment into the Dynamo/Dash and PNC Stadium renovations possibly contributed as well. Their timeline clearly state’s community engagement meetings begin in January so we’ll see.
The other linear park on Bastrop (East End Promenade) you speak of has long been completed, albeit at a scaled down version from the original vision.
Bastrop Promenade has only completed the first of several phases. EDRA has this project under the "update, work authorizations and advertisements for bid" section of their most recent (9/19/22) board meeting. Here are some renderings of the next planned scope of work:
In pulling these pics, I actually came across another proposed project for the same boundaries as this "Goal Park."

Looks like they’re working on a new park on the Columbia Tap Trail at the corner of PNC Stadium. To be open by the 2026 World Cup.
Public engagement meeting will take place in January 2023!
Their Instagram posts go back to 2017, so I'd definitely temper my expectations. I would imagine the other proposed linear park down Bastrop would be moving at a quicker pace than this one.

Houston Chronicle is the first local publication reporting on Blanc Noir. This is planned for 3100 McKinney in East Downtown.
There is no new information in the article.

Quoteconstruction is expected to start in December 2022-January 2023
I don't see them starting in January if they've only raised $850. I think these groups usually leverage the crowdfunding haul as part of financing. Fingers crossed they have deep pockets!

Technically you don't need an exemption if you take off and operate within 400 ft of a tall building. The ceiling is measured from the top of the structure, not ground level. Since cityliving appears to be flying at around 1,000 ft, they should have notified (and received approval from) the FAA regarding day/time and flightpath.

I'm really tired of hearing new homes called "a giant middle finger" to existing residents. Prioritizing skyline views over new homes is the real middle finger.
Agreed. I would rather become the skyline than see it.

So random how they added delineation for each floor with the number of fillets in the trim corresponding to the top of the floor level.

800 Bell is empty. Before it can be marketed as a residential conversion, or pretty much anything else, it needs to be completely gutted and the asbestos remediated. I used to know some network guys that worked there, and any time new wiring was needed, whoever ran it had to put on a Tyvek suit, respirator, and gloves, to minimize asbestos exposure.
One would think that the required remediation would put it even higher on the list. With city funds allocated to that portion of the rehab, the developer would have a financial incentive to get started.
