I would agree that nothing says On The Grind. 1550 OTG is most likely an abbreviation for 1550 On The Green. And On The Grind appears to only have San Antonio area locations, so expanding to Houston would probably be announced in some sort of press release.

That curb thingy they installed to make a right turn lane (see bottom of bottom picture) is dangerous. when you're driving in the right lane, it comes up suddenly and you have to get over quickly. Someone is going to ruin the front axle of their car one day. I suspect it creates a bottleneck also.
Isn't that how most right turn only lanes work? Better to ruin an axle than plow into a car trying to merge onto Allen parkway.

The lounge/club/restaurant at 1120 Dennis is now open. It's called Nomad Midtown, which is a second location for this business (apparently there is one in the Galleria area). From Google reviews it appears to be a BYOB hookah lounge with dining.

Page 22 of the Goal Park Master Plan shows a raised median on Walker and a few other raised curbs at that intersection for the bike/ped crossing across Emancipation into the park. Calls it a EHRA Safe Crossing and I don't know what that means, but the Toucan picture looks like the right idea.

I believe it will be a TOUCAN (or I could be totally wrong), but if I am right, It'll look like this:
So the intersection will only allow right turns for cars (not straight or left) but allow pedestrians and bikes to cross safely to the Columbia Tap Trail.

The bike lane was originally two way on the north side of the street, but the base is in the center. And I doubt the pole would be between two directions of bike travel.
After some researching on intersection design, I'm GUESSING they will split up the bike lanes to match car lanes (safer) and the pole will actually be part of an island for the crosswalk.

No architect listed or exact location.
QuoteThe project will be completed in phases so students can continue to attend the existing school without resorting to portable buildings, reports The Galveston County Daily News.
Project plans call for splitting the school into two main buildings that will be separated by the town's Avenue O.
Students will have access to a skywalk between the buildings so they won't have to cross the street.
During phase one of the project, the Charles B. Scott building will be torn down. Once the Scott building is down, construction will begin on the north wing of the new high school.
The plan also calls for constructing a natatorium.
Construction is expected to begin in July 2023 and end in about December 2025.
PBK Architects is the architect.

^^^ does anyone harbor any information regarding the overall budget for this entire stunning project? (i do not recall referencing any cost details thus far) this looks like something that should be bordering on or about ($650mm+) upon referencing the entire scope and scale of this extraordinary development, this has to be MAJOR expensive. sooooo very happy that we have it here in H-TOWN...

The side facing San Jacinto will have no windows and be covered in "decorative tile." No clue what that means, but it's a bummer for interaction with the street. Probably trying to cut costs.
The Sacco entrance is moving to the parking lot. They plan to be moved back in within the next 2-3 months.
The suites at the corner of San Jacinto and McIlhenny are being roughed in for tenants, but no leases have been signed yet.

The worst part is that structure was completed within the past five years.

So the HBJ has a news item about a Beyonce/Rowland housing project that's 31 units. I can't tell if it's Temenos or an addition...
Midtown housing project named for Beyonce, Kelly Rowland getting $7.2M from Harris County
This project had been mentioned before, but I can't find the post. They are converting the gymnasium of St. John's Church into apartments.
36 minutes ago, 79ta said:"existing apartments will be torn down to make way for the expansion of Interstate 45." <-- Is that in reference to Clayton Homes or a different complex that's being removed?
This may be referencing the Temenos Place II apartments, which are on the block just north of I-45.
Edit: confirmed that a new flyover and off-ramp will encroach on the Temenos Place II apartments.

there's a JW Marriott right across the street from the AC Hotel, which is (not as expensive) a Marriott property, the same as the JW.
it's like that time there were 3 Starbucks on the same intersection.
W Hotel is a Marriott brand.
so really, what we're considering is might there be 3 Marriott brands in close proximity to each other?
If this is possible, then just about anything is. Three Marriott brands in the same building for some reason.

Scaffolding is back up along Austin. This seems to be moving at a brisk pace after a long period of inactivity. Wonder if they finally landed a tenant.

Looks amazing. Glad this is the first thing you see when getting into town (although this was taken on the way off the island).
