  1. La Calle utilizes the sidewalk as patio space, so I would guess this concept will do the same. And I'm all for more restaurants offering street-front seating.
  2. They've been using the fence as a crowd control and privacy screen. Not sure that it's related to construction.
  3. Bicyclists' message to automobile drivers is "share the road." So it seems kind of entitled to demand full rights to a hike and bike trail. I would rather shout "on your left" to a walker than deal with cars and delivery vehicles parked in a bike lane. Bikes and pedestrians should be teaming up in most cases.
  4. The astrodome could be a hotel, multiple restaurants, parking garage, indoor park, AND beer hall with room to spare. And any renovations would pay for themselves within a decade.
  5. I know you do in-depth research before posting, but I'm wondering what else you have seen relating to this change of branding. "Privacy" is a name used by instagram.com/InfluencersHTX to promote Saturday nights at Space: Instagram.com/privacysaturdays. I know that Ratio was created by either part or all of the Influencers group and seems to be doing well. Space has always been crammed to capacity with $40 cover charge and a line around the block, so I'd be interested to see how they would replicate that cash flow with a lounge.
  6. Bastrop Promenade has only completed the first of several phases. EDRA has this project under the "update, work authorizations and advertisements for bid" section of their most recent (9/19/22) board meeting. Here are some renderings of the next planned scope of work: In pulling these pics, I actually came across another proposed project for the same boundaries as this "Goal Park."
  7. Their Instagram posts go back to 2017, so I'd definitely temper my expectations. I would imagine the other proposed linear park down Bastrop would be moving at a quicker pace than this one.
  8. There's a huge pile of dirt and at least one piece of digging equipment on the block planned for the food truck park.
  9. I don't see them starting in January if they've only raised $850. I think these groups usually leverage the crowdfunding haul as part of financing. Fingers crossed they have deep pockets!
  10. Technically you don't need an exemption if you take off and operate within 400 ft of a tall building. The ceiling is measured from the top of the structure, not ground level. Since cityliving appears to be flying at around 1,000 ft, they should have notified (and received approval from) the FAA regarding day/time and flightpath.
  11. They were clarifying that cityliving's posts are for a different project/thread.
  12. So random how they added delineation for each floor with the number of fillets in the trim corresponding to the top of the floor level.
  13. If they're planning to install a retractable roof, I see lots of noise ordinance fines in this club's future.
  14. One would think that the required remediation would put it even higher on the list. With city funds allocated to that portion of the rehab, the developer would have a financial incentive to get started.
  15. Either this footage is 2 months old or that U-Haul has been generating significant parking revenue.
  16. I actually really like the esplanade-esque parking idea, except with a bike lane added. It holds everyone accountable. Of course it would only work on wide, two-way streets but maybe those are exactly the type of streets you would want them on. Think South Congress in Austin or Washington Ave in Houston. --------------------------------------------------- sidewalk --------------------------------------------------- <--- car lane <--- ---------------------------------------------------- / / / / / / / parking / / / / / / / ---------------------------------------------------- protected bike lane ---------------------------------------------------- / / / / / / / parking / / / / / / / --------------------------------------------------- ---> car lane ---> --------------------------------------------------- sidewalk ---------------------------------------------------- *not to scale
  17. That's true that some universities contract portions of an apartment complex to cover overflows from on-campus housing, but I don't see that being a major issue at UH or TSU. I would imagine that it's not illegal to rent only to students as long as there is a defined policy saying so and all student applicants are treated equally (part-time vs full-time, not required to attend a specific school). I think that's the same premise as senior citizen apartment communities, but those may have government oversight similar to low-income housing.
