  1. I'll ask the question everyones afraid to ask: "What _______ ever gives more than a glance at anyone on the street asking for/selling anything?" I can confidently say I have never. Well, minus the occasional weekend Chronicle.
  2. A neighborhood less than a mile from where Aliana is building, called Eaglewood on Bissonnet, was featured on KPRC news tonight. They've had a rash of break-ins and car burglaries. All I can say for West Oaks Village is that we got a Constable Contract for that very reason. Oh, that and the fact that now the one, yes - count him, one Fort Bend Sheriff Deputy that would patrol our neighborhood will probably be spending more time in Eaglewood & Mission Bend in general.
  3. Its the unforeseeable nature of school zoning that makes me so weary of moving further into this area. Aliana looks good so far though. It should shape up nicely.
  4. If I could be guaranteed that my kids wouldn't go to Bush High or Hodges Middle, we'd consider moving there.
  5. I once saw Jesus slap Santa Claus. My point? Please be more specific.
  6. It does, but I don't think FM1464 has plans to get bigger than what it is. Still, a major intersection is a major intersection: not safe for kids to cross - especially rambunctious kids excited to go swimming. As for the home prices, I used the word "cheaper" because its relative, and not literal - although with todays building practices I suppose it could be the latter.
  7. Obama keeping promises does not sell papers. The same went for G.W., Clinton, etc etc.
  8. When you say that the Constable program is full swing, what do you mean exactly? Was there no contract in place before? Are all homes in the Heights under one set of deed restrictions and HOA board, or are there multiple sets? If so, was there any difficulty getting some on board with a contract? How much is the contract costing you and how much coverage are you getting out of it (hours per day/days per week/weeks per year)?
  9. This was my only concern, as it seems like FM1464 cutting the neighborhood in half now, with the "cheaper" homes east of the new road with easier access to the rec center. It seems more dangerous for kids riding their bikes to the pool to have to cross a 4 lane FM1464. I noticed while headed southbound on 99 yesterday a bunch of new stadium lights up on the back of the development. I guess that's the new polo field.
  10. I think its the opposite. I would bet Cali-Girl works for Aliana and is just using reverse-psychology on us.
  11. Could you imagine a Houston with zoning? All of our midtown would be full with highrises. I wish someone with some very talented photoshop skills could alter that last photo to add all the highrises found along the freeways, Sharpstown, Memorial City, Greenway Plaza, Westchase, and Westlake, as well as the stand alones throughout the city, to see what it would look like. (I purposely leave out Greenspoint because in this fantasy they would be their own incorporated city and Uptown would probably still be zoned for highrises the way the Medical Center is..) Just a wet pipedream.
  12. Wow. That news site was pretty impressive. The reported took the time to link to other zombie related sites, as well as add some funny youtube videos. Very impressive compared to our new channel websites.
  13. Here's a question of ignorance.. Is the USPS still a government owned business, or was it privatized back in the 90's?
  14. Its a shame we would have to resort to guerilla tactics to get a completed sidewalk inside the loop. What has been the city's response to requests to finish the sidewalks at these locations?
  15. Yes, you're right. The coach needs to teach these kids with learning abilities that any disability no matter physical or mental should be no excuse to perform at the next level.
  16. There is a big difference between showing mercy and showing pity. Showing mercy would be setting up a passing game, with only outside shots to keep the score down. Asking the players to purposely mess up would be a poor attempt at showing pity. Red, thank you for bringing more high school rules to light that help expose this coach. Don't fault the organizers. Otherwise Dallas Academy would have no one to play.
  17. You're right that Gumbo is old African for Okra. You can google it and find out. As for Cajuns vs. Creoles adding it, I think you'll find a 50/50 split. We used File instead of Okra to thicken it.
  18. The letter, I'm not buying it - and here's why: 1. It took you 3 full minutes of play, and 25 points to realize that the other team was no match for your offensive and defensive ability? B.S. 2. 59 points in the first half? You scored 34 points in the first quarter and then 24 in the second quarter. Okay, I can see a pattern developing BUT.. 3. 29 points in the third quarter? At what point was enough, enough? 4. Finally in the fourth quarter we see the results of running the clock - something that should have been done in the first quarter. They might have played fairly - but it was far from honorably. And last, but not least: Dallas Academy, from their website: vs.. Dallas Covenant: I don't see anything about learning disabilities in there. Just go take a look at the two sites and decide for yourself if it was wrong that he was fired. I don't think so.
  19. I'm late to this conversation so this might have been covered.. But perhaps its cheaper to tear it down and sell off the lot versus trying to deal with things like asbestos abatement and other type remedial obstacles? I'm asking because I don't know and I'm trying to find logic like everyone else as to why it would be torn down. To me, it defeats the purpose of building a new building on an old parking lot if you're just going to turn around and tear down another building and create a parking lot.
  20. How? Tear down GRB, Minute Maid Park, and Toyota Center?
  21. The girls of Dallas Academy all have some sort of disability. Basically, it was the equivalent of the Texans playing any local middle school team in terms of ability. It was supposed to be understood that Dallas Academy played not to win, but to just to be able to play. Shutting them out by 100 points didn't show that the other team were better athletes - it showed they were jerks and bullies.
