I think its going to be a self storage facility.

Since construction is completed on this development shouldn't it be moved from Going Up? I have noticed that there are quite a few completed developments that are still in Going Up even though they are completed . . .

Those are some pretty big names!

I'm glad that corner building is not included. It is a neat little store, called Black's Bodega, that adds to the character of the area. I'm sure it will benefit greatly from the construction workers for this project and the future influx of residents once the apartments are completed.

huge parking lots are required in a development like this. The concert venue going inside is a 5000 seater, there's not enough parking in the area when you add in the needs of the theater district.
Build a parking garage. . .

$33,517,144.00 seems like a nice price tag for a renovation. Maybe the renovation of the old Fiesta will be nicer than I was expecting.

I think it will end up being some type of residential. There were already two proposed office developments for the site that could not get off the ground.

This isn't technically the correct location/thread, but I couldn't find anything better by searching... the old Goode Co. Seafood building right behind the new one is currently being demolished. I read once awhile back that there were plans for an office tower there, but not sure what the plans are at this point.
I doubt they are building an office building right now since they paused on the 10 Story building they had going up on Bunker Hill. Maybe they are getting it ready for a future building or maybe another multifamily project.

Why is it going to take 4 years to build the Horizon Tower? Seems like a long construction timeframe for a 30 story building.

100% agree with see this being against the original vision. The change has been much...more than I would have thought after seeing the original outline a year ago.
If they basically just remove SOME of the brick from the Shops, downtown will have gotten such a facelift. And walking into the shops will no longer feel like going into a bunker.
I believe there are plans for updates to the facade of the shops, correct? or am I mistaken?

I don't know if this is a problem of "government buildings" where pressures to keep costs down trump any sort of architectural statement a private company may be motivated to make. At least it improves on what was there...
Its a renovation of an existing building what did you expect them to do?

Since Pier 1 Imports is going out of business and Weingarten owns that property at the corner of Woodhead St. & W. Gray St. that would be a great location for the next high-rise. They can call it The Woodhead!

Does this mean that huge lot that is currently occupied by Wells Fargo across the street will become available for re-development?!?!

Nice to see this building form a different view!

Awesome that this developer has an additional project planned here, however what happened to their proposed second tower in downtown and the second mid rise off Jensen? Just seems weird that they are planning additional development when two of their prior proposals just went quiet.

Is it just me, or is that parking garage oversized? Did they do more parking than they needed, or am I just seeing things?
If you have ever been to that area then you would know there is never enough parking! This parking garage will be a great asset to that area!

Nice building. Hope it gets built. That end of Uptown needs some new development/updating.

So who's moving into these new and shiny student housing and dorms? UH on campus students will be unprecidently low this fall semester. Moody dining and dorms will not open for fall semester. This is troubling.
. . . . students.

That would be neat. However, I don't see that happening with the way Bellaire city council acts!
