The RO: Mixed-Use Development At West Alabama And Buffalo Spdwy.
TexasGeneral replied to YakuzaIce's topic in Going Up!
This site, combined with the vacant building and parking lot at the NW corner of Buffalo Speedway and Richmond, have the potential to be developed into something really great. He is right when he says this tract is one of the largest and most desirable in-fill locations left in Houston. -

That is an amazing looking residential building. I love the floor to ceiling glass on the end units.- 911 replies

Buffalo Heights District: Mixed-Use Development At 100 Waugh Dr.
TexasGeneral replied to Ross's topic in Going Up!
Only one of the buildings proposed is nearly six times as large as the existing building. I guess it depends on the scale and type of hotel + resi components. Access is bad - Waugh is only one way at the site and is right before the merge onto Memorial. Feagan is a narrow, tiny street with drainage issues.- 385 replies

I don't see how a project of this magnitude can fit on that site. Access would be a real issue.- 385 replies

I like the last picture with the market square tower included as well. Based on these renderings, it looks like this tower will be as tall as One Shell and First City Tower, if not taller.

CityCentre: Mixed-Use Development At 800 Town And Country Blvd.
TexasGeneral replied to Parrothead's topic in Going Up!
I don't have a picture, but a tower crane is now up on what appears to be the site of the 10-story Town Center 1.- 960 replies

Oxy only has 200 employees in LA. The move to Houston will only bring a few dozen jobs. So, it is unlikely any of this tower will be Oxy.

Downtown Houston 2025 Master Plan
TexasGeneral replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Downtown
My guess is redevelopment - replacement of the black '70's style glass with a more modern look. -
Does anyone know what is going up at the corner of San Felipe and Fountain View? Those old Fountain View apartments look like they are being demo'ed. New MF?

The tower crane behind Trader Joe's is for an assisted living center. There is a sign on the construction site. That is all I know about it.

800 Bell St. (Former Exxon Building) Conversion to Residential
TexasGeneral replied to TheNiche's topic in Downtown
It seems like Chevron could take over this whole renovated building without having to build another tower. Would be very cost effective for Chevron.- 690 replies

Wow. What an improvement over the "radiator" design. It's almost like adding a whole new building to the skyline.- 690 replies

The Astoria: Condominium High-Rise At 1405 Post Oak Blvd.
TexasGeneral replied to wxman's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
I don't see how a tower this size can fit on that small of a lot. The McDonald's will have a bigger footprint than this tower, if it ever gets built.- 988 replies

Texaco Building (now The Star) At 1111 Rusk Street

I was only talking about downtown development. Obviously, there are a ton of other towers going up or proposed city-wide. -
Texaco Building (now The Star) At 1111 Rusk Street
TexasGeneral replied to editor's topic in Downtown
So, to summarize: 1. 24 story sky house apartment tower under construction 2. 30 story Marriott hotel proposed 3. 50 story Chevron tower rumored 4. 41 story Hines tower proposed 5. 33 story Skanska proposed 6. 38 story apartment tower proposed 7. 37+ story Stream tower proposed 8. 50 story Allen Center 5 proposed I am hopeful at least half of these will be built. My bet is the sky house, the Marriott, the Chevron tower, the Hines tower and the 38 story apartments, in order of completion probability. -
Any details you can provide on height of the office tower? Are we talking 10 floors, 20 floors, 30 floors?

I really think Richmond avenue between Buffalo Speedway and Kirby is prime for re-development. There are some old mid-rise offices and a large vacant lot both along Richmond and the 59 access road. Would be great to see some high rise residential.

This is good news, although I will be sad to see those old oak trees on the Solvay site get torn down.
