Snapped this the other day. Slightly wonky since I had to photomerge a multiple photos to get the entire building in the shot.

Camden announced phase I is a go on their earnings call. Should kick off Q4-2017. It'll be 21 stories, as discussed here.   They have no definite plans for phase II.

The clouds showed up the one time i managed to get downtown... Nevertheless, here are a few shots.

20 stories sounds plenty tall for that section of downtown. This seems like it would be a terrible place for a low or mid rise. 2 sides of the building wouldn't have a view of anything except freeway ramps. However, twin 20 story buildings in that spot could make quite an impact and could have the best view of downtown in the entire city. It would be like the view from UH Stadium, only up close and personal.

It was right at 20 stories and the design reminded me a lot of the Marquette multi-family project. Camden's is more rounded at the top, but very similar. Sorry for posting off topic.

We encourage this type of off-topic discussion. Thanks!

Many apologies, I was replying to the post prior to mine about Camden. It was off-topic and my post does not relate to this discussion.

No worries. We like off topic posts when they are about new info pertaining to other projects. I was just confused as to what you were referring to. Didn't think this one was going to end up 20 stories. Heh

How many units? The new development map says 518, but just saw somewhere else that's now 560.

I don't know folks judge for yourself! I mean this is dipping into the uncanny valley... They straight up took this design and retooled it. I'm not going to judge right at this moment, but this may end very badly. They didn't even try to make it look different.

The three renderings of the high-rise with the white and black facade on the right, could it be our first look at the Marlowe condo project by Randall Davis?

i hope not.. i would be completely SHOCKED as per such a plain jane building stemming from such an adventurous type such a randall davis!  surely randall (for whom is now famous as per his ultra thirst for adventure) wouldn't dare to venture into downtown houston with such a barron condominium building (completely devoid of personality).  has randall somehow undergone a complete mental metamorphosis...  no way!

That may not be such a bad thing.. It may give the area a uniform look

No @bobruss 30 is Camden.

@Avossos But Catalyst is a Ziegler Cooper project, not a Camden one. Sky House for instance has been repeated a bunch of times (which is silly) but they are the ones with the development so they can repeat it if they want. What Camden is doing is essentially copying Ziegler Cooper and adjusting a few elements. Architecturally, it looks good. The floor plans look great. I see lots of retail etc, but the fact of the matter is that of ALL the possible designs you could think up it happens to look eerily similar to one that is literally a few blocks away. That's insane!

I took that picture at the meeting today..... In the picture above, the rendering in the center is of the Camden Toyota Center project. (Camden Toyota Center was on the poster of the rendering.) I should have taken a better shot, but I cannot confirm that the Randall Davis is the rendering at the right of the picture. I do know that the Randall Davis project was said to have 20 stories, and would have 100 units.

..

Didn't you say 4199 of the units had been approved? So that means another 801 units to be meet...good chance we could get another 2 or 3 residential before the cap then?

Thought I read they are consider another tax incentives for the warehouse district completely separate from this one

Yes, it was said that there have been 4199 units approved through the Downtown Living Initiative so far. Here is the note about the length of the incentives from the Downtown Houston Management District website: "The financial incentive will be paid for the first 5,000 residential units under contract to participate in this Program or for a four year period from July 2012 through June 30, 2016."

So this is the block facing Root Square right across from Toyota Center then.  I hadn't picked up on a Camden project there.

All of them are beginning to look similar to what Hines is planning in Market Square. I've stopped being surprised.

Someone needs to come up with the EB-5 scratch to make the Helix in its original form a reality.

Yes, directly to the south. There's two blocks for this project. Block 330 (1521 Austin) will be Phase 1. Block 346 (1404 Leeland) will be Phase 2.

Will they both be 20 stories or is it a tower on one block with a shorter parking garage/midrise structure on the other block, ala Catalyst?

Here are the two sides of the development map that was handed out today.

The three projects approved for the Downtown Living Initiative today were:

Project 30 - Camden Trust- It notes that there will be "20-story, 550-unit residential buildings" So, I can't say for sure whether that's two towers, or a tower and a mid-rise of something like that.

Project 35 - The Cosmopolitan - 7-story, 209-unit residential building

Project 36 - Marlowe - 20 story, 100 unit condominium

This is already out of date if there are new projects in the block north of Metro and by Toyota Center.   Also 103 N Jackson and Solero, both north of the ballpark.
