I’m sure the dead people never fathomed this outcome. I drove these roads recently on the way to Lubbock. On one particular stretch it was a 2-lane highway (one lane in each direction). We had an 18-wheeler in front of us going 40 mph on a 60 mph road. We never had an opportunity to pass so we were stuck behind this guy for 20-30 minutes until the highway widened.
In this situation it appears the police escorts did not do their jobs? Also, why wasn’t this large piece of equipment transported over night when fewer cars are on the road? I’m not sure what went wrong here.
FWIW on our return trip from Lubbock we stuck to interstate highways even though it was a slightly longer route.
Regardless, we still have yet another display of "transparency" and "fiscal responsibility" from Whitmire. Sabatoging the very things that overcome "Houston is broke."
Dollar for dollar, the potential economic activity generated from an infrastructure project surely must be significantly higher in denser areas where you have so many more businesses and residents, right? It feels like low hanging fruit to improve connectivity in the busiest areas so that in the long term you're set up for healthy businesses and communities, but it really feels like there's no coherent long term vision for the city from the mayor's office.
We went to Chelsea and noted the "posh" intentions- if that's the correct word but the food didn't stand up. Those sort of intentions seem to come from Marmo and Graffiti Raw also but food seems better. I don't mean to lean in the notion of "posh" as synonymous with price point. Just seems like a restaurant with a less serious attitude might be more successful...........imo.....
