You're giving away your age, bach.

I really don't have a favorite, myself. I kind of liked the way that the writers/directors of The Matrix tied in so much mythology from so many ancient cultures...took me several viewings to catch all of it (or at least all that I'm able to catch). And I found it curious that a couple of Jewish brothers would basically push the Christ story in the end...although the end was a bit disappointing. I was hoping for something a little more final and less static.

I'm glad to see this thread on here. My favorite movie is Marcel Carne's "Children of Paradise", made in the early 1940s. I'm 25 years old btw. To make it a top 5... I'd say 2. Charlie Chaplin's City Lights 3. Martin Scorsese's Raging Bull 4. Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man 5. Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut.

Well........this is one of my favorite subjects. There are sooooooo amny great movies, and sooooo many good movies. My list would be very weird for some here as they would be like WHY THAT ONE ? Explaining one little thing in a movie that just MADE it for me is tough.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off, this IS my number one, but for reasons only known to me.

Lord of the Rings, brilliance

Star Wars, yes , even the new ones.

Matrix trilogy, ground breaking, and theology classes to boot.

Citizen Kane, watch it and you'll see.

HEAT, bank robbery scene is one of THE best in film history.

Fight Club, I'm so dumb, I never figured out that both were the same guy until about 15 minutes of the movie was left.

House of Games, twist at the end I never saw coming

Goodfellas, come on, it's Goodfellas.

Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, just the video game junkie in me.

Excalibur, I was 9 or 10 years old when this movie came out, King Arthur has not been interpreted better to this day.

Popeye, first date movie, and it is a visually fantastic film.

Pulp Fiction, one of the best stories to ever been fit into 2 hours.

Big Red One, Luke Skywalker killing Germans this time, good movie

Kelly's Heroes, love the look of the whole thing and a good story

Dirty Dozen, totally unbelievable, that's why I like it.

Clint Eastwood's spaghetti westerns, pick one

True Romance, Besides Pulp Fiction, Tarantino's best stuff

Usual Suspents, give me the F'n keys you MFer ! Hilarious.

Silence of the Lambs, Oscar winner, and just plain cool.

Manhunter, if you haven't seen it, rent it, it's Michael Mann dir. a much better version of Red Dragon.

Godfather, need I say more

Scarface, would have been totally different if Oliver Stone had directed it instead of just written it, be glad De Palma wanted the gig.

Raiders of the Lost Ark, Speilberg at the pinnacle of his work.

Sixth Sense, twist got me on this one also, but I called it before it was revealed. Bruce was dead the whole time ? WTF !

Forrest Gump

Just waaaaaaayyyy too many for me too list.

Favorite: Bottle Rocket

Dislike: Last Samurai ( or any Tom Cruise movie for that matter. How come he never dies in the movies :angry2: )

Because he really sucks at acting like he's dying, I saw a very very old audition clip of him acting like he had been shot and dying, I actually had to turn away because it was such a horrible trainwreck. It is probably also an ego thing in his contract though. Just give the goofy, misaligned, horsetoothed grin, and all is well Tom ! :D

Nearly cut and paste for me. Especially #8 and #10, maybe replace Zoolander with Happy Gilmore and add The Natural.

My closet movie is Highlander. "Its better to burn out than to fade away!"

ABC's The Day After nuclear war

The Hunt for Red October

Crimson Tide

The Gideon Decision

Threads

Testament

War Games

Red Dawn

ABC's Amerika

By Dawns Early Light

The Sum of all Fears

I always find it amusing to watch the Hollywood and British directors use of erroneous information as fact to make movies like these, and how the avg. Joe believe whole-heartedly that the things portrayed in these types of movies are factual in everyway :) :) :) :) :) :)

Makes for great entertainment :) :) :) :)

i'll take a couple of sevfiv's, it's hard to overlook Charlie Kaufman:

Being John Malkovich

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

also,

Lost in Translation

Royal Tennenbaums

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945 version)

The Third Man (can you say Zither music?!)

Reality Bites (for the Houston shots)

Happy Gilmore (just for Bob Barker's punch)

Gumball Rally (just for the Cobra)

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (John Bigboote!!??)

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? (Great soundtrack, too!)

Big Lebowski (The Dude!)

Kingpin

Blazing Saddles

This was tough...I could just go on and on....but since the topic is favorite movie - singular - i won't.

Of these I would say my all time fave is either Being John Malkovich or Blazing Saddles - depending on how hard I want to think! :P

Looks like I need more dramas in my life, My list is heavy on the comedies. :D

Psycho is my all-time favorite movie. My alter-egos are Norman Bates and the Marquis de Sade.

In Blazing Saddles, Lamar said: "My mind is a raging torrent flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives".

Taggart replied: "Boss, you use your tongue prettier than a $20whore!"
