Highrise Tower
In 1908, the architect Olle Lorehn designed the Houston Fire Station Number 9 located at 702 Hogan Street. I looked on Google Maps and noticed there is a fire station currently located there. However, the station looks like a new build so I'm sure the Olle Lorehn designed building was demolished and replaced. Specwriter
That is so neat. I'm sure modern apparatus would not fit through those portals. Wouldn't this building have made a great GFR with apartments or business office on the second level? It could have also been an event venue like the one on Houston Ave. I attended an AIA function at the renovated firehouse on Houston Ave. but was forbidden from sliding down the firemen's pole. Drat!☹️
Purdueenginerd
Building was still visible in 1966 aerial photography. You can see the outline of the building parapet in the shadow cast on the street.
