I was reading an article in the newspaper The Jewish Herald-Voice dated October 11, 1951. There was a club hall located in an previously-occupied business called Washburn Venetian Blind Co.

Get your party together now, and plan to attend he Frisch-Jacobs Mask Parade Dance on Halloween night, October 31, at Washburn Hall. Prizes will be award for the most original costumes . . . and all are asked o wear masks. Reservations can be made for a table, for your party, by calling Sally Schalit, OL-9916, before Oct. 31. Washburn Hall is easily found on Peerless, off O.S.T. (or behind Al's Bar near Holcombe and O.S.T. Intersections).

Looks like the industrial building, once a club hall, is still standing!

That building wasn't there in 1953. From HCAD, I think it's more like 1970. The current building goes almost to the next street to the West, Allegheny Street.
