The northwestern portion is boarded up, the southern and western portion still seem to be lived in. I'm willing to bet these will be demolished sometime in the future. Probably waiting out the leases on the remaining units. They are in very rough shape. Looked at HCAD to see who owns them. A company called "Montrose Multifamily Members III LLC" owns these. They are part of larger group of older apartments in Montrose owned by Montrose Multifamily Holdings CBJMInvestments. https://montroseholdings.cbmjinvestments.com Google Map's images. 4 buildings on the southeastern corner they don't own.
