IntheKnowHouston Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I don't know if there is a name for the building at 416 Main St. It's in the Central Business District in downtown Houston. According to Houston Time Portal, the building was home to a bar and billiard parlor named The Cabinet. Moritz Weil Cigars was located there too. The building was also home to Gordon Jewelry Co, according to Arch-ive.org. The lot at 416 Main St is situated between the Byrd Building (420 Main St) / Byrd's Lofts (919 Prairie St) and the State National Bank Building (412 Main St). January 2022 Google Earth image 2 Quote

IntheKnowHouston Posted March 27, 2023 Author Posted March 27, 2023 As noted in another topic, Bovine & Barley at 416 Main Street is closed. The bar & grill closed in January. Bovine & Barley was a concept from local hospitality team Eighty Six'd Restaurant & Bar Group. Yokoso Hospitality Group ( or YOKOSO Hospitality Group) may have plans for the space. I don't know if this is a newly formed hospitality group or not. I also don't know if its a rebrand of Eighty Six'd Restaurant & Bar Group since all of Eighty Six'd's concepts now fall under the YOKOSO Hospitality Group umbrella. Listed on YOKOSO Hospitality Group's website is a new concept: Yokoso Club. It's marked coming soon. An address isn't provided but this may be what's planned for 416 Main St. A domain for Yokoso Club was registered in November; however, the website isn't up and running. I could be way off the mark and the space could be leased to someone else. Maybe we'll find out later this year. https://yokosogroup.com/concepts http://yokosoclub.com/ Edited March 27, 2023 by IntheKnowHouston 4 Quote

Bovine & Barley previously operated here. I think Yokoso Club is opening in its place. Both are from Yokoso Hospitality Group (previously Eighty Six'd Restaurant & Bar Group). 4 Quote

It's a cocktail bar and record shop opening soon. I'm not entirely certain of the operators involved with Off the Record. Steve Rogers (5015 Bar, The Warwick, Rockhouse) has promoted this new nightlife concept on his social media platforms. Still, I'm not sure if he's involved or not. I think at least one of Off the Record's owners is the proprietor of local marketing/event company The Midas Group and party promoter. Bovine & Barley was the previous occupant of 416 Main St. The bar and grill closed in December. All the posts from Bovine & Barley's Instagram were removed. Additionally the account's name is now Off the Record. http://offtherecordhtx.com/ https://www.instagram.com/offtherecordhouston Edited August 21, 2023 by IntheKnowHouston 3 Quote
jermh Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 (edited) From Bovine and Barley to "Vinyls" and Crosleys. It'll be interesting to see if a decent amount of square footage is dedicated to records, or if they're just going to have a shelf of Taylor Swift and Tyler the Creator albums for sale to sell the concept. Snark aside, a well done concept that combines something like Sig's Lagoon and Double Trouble could actually be cool in that location. Edited August 21, 2023 by jermh 3 1 Quote
