EspersonBuildings
I grew up in the Hiram Clarke area in the 1960's and 70's. Went to Montgomery Elementary, Dowling Junior High, and Madison High. We used to go to the South Main Drive In, (then later McClendon Triple). Don't know if this is the same but I do recall going to the go carts on South Main. It was located on the southern side of the street past Willowbend and before the South Loop, it was on one side of the fire station. Had a lot of fun there!
Tumbleweed_Tx
I have been to the McClendon triple. i have no idea what the front gate looked like, I was shoved into the trunk of my brother's 66 Polara with two other kids so we could sneak in...
Highrise Tower
Believe I found it on Google Earth. Next to the COH fire station 21, 10515 South Main St. 1978.
Highrise Tower
Found it! No address, but I found the company incorporation name and date. According to the website opencorporate, the company was called South Main Go-Kart Speedway Co., Inc. The business was incorporated on April 29, 1960. The business owner, or agent, was Jim Teflos. Would love to see some advertisements in newspapers and the media! Why wasn't this place popular? The only place I've heard it mentioned is HAIF.
