dbigtex56
This is what much of 'old' Montrose' looked like in the early eighties. The fence, the trees, the lush gardens instead of a lawn... Perhaps landscapes such as these were responsible for the songbirds that seemed to be everywhere. Those two-townhouses per lot barely have room for landscaping. Maybe that's why the number of songbirds seems to have dwindled.
IntheKnowHouston
It appears the owners of this property may move forward with plans to renovate it into a beer garden. The landowners are also the team behind Eat Local Concepts. It's the hospitality group whose portfolio include the restaurant Local Table. A few weeks ago, an entity tied to Eat Local Concepts was filed with the state. The name of the entity is Local Beer Garden, LLC. I suppose we'll find out for sure soon. Hopefully within the coming months.

I certainly don't hate monoculture lawns the way I hate parking lots (at least not in this part of the country, for now), but man, even a totally unkempt, overgrown bramble of a garden blows it out of the water every time for me.

Hopefully within the coming months. A follow up to Eat Local Concepts' beer garden / bar planned for Montrose: I think the name is Local Tap & Co. I came across a design contest for the new concept, which revealed the name. There isn't much about the concept, however. As for a website, I have not come across one. There is an Instagram account for Local Tap & Co.'s possible Katy location. Local Tap & Co. will be located 215 Fargo St. https://99designs.com/logo-design/contests/local-tap-co-1179588 https://www.instagram.com/localtapandcokaty
