I can't tell if the various colors (yellow, tans, grey) are the final product, or just different materials that will eventually be painted to match ?  They have some strange color blocking going on if it's the final design

I've wondered what they are for also - I assume the area behind the building will be their outdoor area - patio, grills, etc...I could see these posts being a cool fence along the property line if they were about half as tall - maybe they have more stringent security requirements  and need a taller fence ?

I think it's going to be a playground with ball courts of some kind and the fence is to keep from losing the game balls.

It looks like those posts are the beginning of a brick wall - there is rebar in the cement at each post and they are now building wood forms along the outline of the fence with the metal posts in the middle of the form

I suspect the "infamous fence" is going to be a privacy wall/sound barrier against the light rail. That or to keep kids from playing along the rail line.
