s3mh
There is also a phase II planned for the strip center with Fat Cat and the new sushi restaurant: http://static.squarespace.com/static/5215234ae4b0745af88f3c00/t/5422366fe4b0211796851ca1/1411528303532/revive_sales+sheet_19%26Shep_phII_scrn.pdf
Mab
add Cane Rosso to the long list of Dallas imports invading Houston. The pizzeria raised some suspicions of its possible arrival recently after notice of the restaurant following local publications and writers on Twitter and Instagram, including this site's Twitter account. Although that's not entirely out of the ordinary, Houston Chronicle has confirmed the Dallas eatery will come to Houston, opening in the Heights by year's end. Residing between the center that houses Fat Cat Creamery, Hugs and Donuts and forthcoming Ka Restaurant, plus Treadsack's Bernadine's and Hunky Dory on the opposite side, Cane Rosso will occupy a 4,000 square-feet space within the shopping center planned for 1835 North Shepherd. The new development replaces an auto shop which sat on the corner of North Shepherd and West 19th for years. http://houston.eater.com/2015/3/24/8284051/cane-rosso-coming-to-houston http://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/03-24-15-dallas-best-pizza-restaurant-is-coming-to-houstons-hottest-food-neighborhood-guy-fieri-blessed-spot-brings-plenty-of-bu/?utm_source=sf_facebook Edited March 24, 2015 by Mab
Angostura
Really excited by this, but odds of this actually opening by year's end are approximately zero. Pizaro's signed their lease at Montrose and Gray on August 1st, 2013, and still hasn't opened.

BigFootsSocks
I'm a little disappointed they didn't slant the roof like the render showed. Would've matched the new redevelopment across the street
august948
I'm a little disappointed they didn't slant the roof like the render showed. Would've matched the new redevelopment across the street I'm seeing some slant in the first and third pictures. May not be as dramatic as in the rendering, though. BigFootsSocks
I drove by it every day during the summer for work and never saw anything like what was proposed, but maybe they could tack on later?

Andy_S
I stopped by Cane Rosso earlier today. The door was open, so I walked in. The manager said they just started training, and would be open Monday June 6th.
IntheKnowHouston
This post comes from the Restaurant Diversity In The Heights thread, but since there is a thread for the property, it may be useful to post it here: Killer Noodle, a Japanese ramen restaurant coming soon to 1835 N Shepherd Dr, Suite B. This is opening in the unit previously occupied by Cane Rosso. 19 hours ago, hindesky said: Killer Noodles. https://killernoodle.com Architect - https://www.doanassociates.com Edited May 3, 2022 by IntheKnowHouston

And it was on my list of restaurants to try on my next trip to Los Angeles. I saw a comment a year or two regarding their ramen concept, Killer Noodle, possibly expanding to Houston. In glad to know it's finally happening. Thanks for posting. Edited September 2, 2022 by IntheKnowHouston
IntheKnowHouston
Is signage up for Killer Noodle yet? Also, are the renovations completed? Killer Noodle is the Japanese restaurant specializing in ramen, replacing Cane Rosso's former unit at 1835 N Shepherd Dr, Ste B. I haven't come across anything about Killer Noodle's Heights location on their Instagram feed and stories. However, a Facebook page for the Houston location was created in June. https://www.facebook.com/Killer-Noodle-Houston-108482885248031/

I saw that yesterday, and realized I hadn't been paying attention and didn't know that Cane Rosso had closed. No great loss in my book. We ate there once, and it was awful.

With their recently launched Facebook page for the Houston location and updates there, I figured there may be signage of some kind on the unit. I wouldn't be surprised if Killer Noodle opened this fall.
